First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Which really really shows you the literal living nightmare the LPC staring at, the stores and the public are not complying, these people by definition are all armed.

Who’s the officers wanting to sign up for the charging marathon??

I know everyone hates to hear this, but there’s only two realities Grandfathering or perpetual amnesty.

There’s no world the LPC can do this, it’s literally the “red line” of ripping the country in half and possibly years of violence.

Something to keep in mind is many stores are not doing great financially right now, and their hand was forced in order to keep the lights on. I'm sure a lot of those are also boomer-owned mom and pop shops and hunting outfitters, which are typically more against the ownership of tactical rifles than more traditional "kitchen sink" gun stores.

Honestly don't blame stores for participating. They're in the business of making money and dead inventory ain't makin' money.

Individuals on the other hand... Unless it's restricted or a dirt cheap banned 22 (like GSG-16) then zero excuse for participating.

I'd only give restricted folks a pass and even then, only if they delayed it.

Cheap 22s still give public safety the optics and stats they're fishing for.

Mass non compliance all the way for me personally. I'd rather deactivate than support this shit show

Anecdote but all of the participants I know (including myself) had a lot of formerly restricted stuff. We all know it's heading for the smelter one way or the other, just a matter of whether you want anything in return for it

Deactivation is also a option. That avoids the smelter.

I know only 16,000 of the 100,000 ARs were declared. And people have been withdrawing, so it’s probably less now

From what public safety posted, GSG-16s were the #1 spot by a mile. Which makes sense just dump it and get a 10/22 or any of the other legal 22s l. Such a joke this program
