Buy recommendations Beginner need advice, savage or cz?
Hello, got my eyes on some used rifles in .223 rem in similar price point.
Savage 110 apex hunter
Cz 600 alpha
Anyone have experience with these?

I have the cz, it's great but use 78 gr for better accuracy, I sometimes use 55 gr pmc for plinking, still get 2moa at 100yds

CZ will be better quality but Savage 110s are insanely accurate. I have a savage 110 in .22-250 that's sub moa at 200 yards

I haven't used the Alpha in the field, but I do have a Trail, which is roughly the same basic action.
CZ 100%, with a caveat.
The Alpha has a barrel profile that will generally result in better accuracy, and it has a tremendous trigger. The heavier barrel is offset somewhat by a very light stock, which can at times feel "cheap", but most composite lightweight stocks do.
The CZ600 trigger is also insanely good for a factory rifle. The Alpha uses a single stage, and it's adjustable with an allen key between four different settings, all the way down to 1.5lb, which is quite light. My Trail has the two-stage version of it, and it's probably my favorite trigger other than my stupid expensive KRG Midas that I run on my Tikka.
The caveat is that the 600 series prefers heavier ammo in .223, across the board. It has a 1:7 twist barrel. Do not expect to feed it 55gr and get the best performance. It will reward you for feeding it 62 grain ammunition or heavier.

In that lineup, CZ easily.
That said, I'd jump into a Tikka before either.

CZ 600 over the Savage but I preferred the CVA Cascade SB's 18" barrel, the CZ is long af at 24" both have fantastic triggers (slight edge to the externally adjustable CZ) and shoot sub-MOA.
. Slight edge to the CVA for action smoothness, it also had a better stock and buttpad. I only shot 556 through both, no issues, very well made guns especially for the price. Both mags fed fine but slight edge to the CZ, like how you can lock it in place. CVA has 10 round mags though.
. I got the CVA used for about $750, CZ was about the same brand new (at the time, on sale). Now they're overcharging with the 600+ models lol it's the exact same rifle without red Loctite on the barrel...

If you really want to save money, the ammo is going to be what kills you. I just spent $350 on ammo this morning for my centerfires...that's only a bit less than a low end used gun.
Is there a reason you're not looking at a 22LR? For hunting centerfire makes sense, but if it's going to be a range princess a 22LR will let you go through thousands of rounds and become proficient for a fraction of the cost. A lot of ranges aren't even long enough to justify a larger gun (you can get 22LR to 200 or 300m with practice).

They arent. This person is just parroting "some fudd once told me..." bullshit. Savages are budget friendly rifles with bolts that can be a little rough until they are well broken in, but they are reliably built and usually very accurate rifles

I can attest to the bolt. It was rough at first. Felt almost a little clunky. Sometime between 300-400 rounds it must have gotten smoother while I wasn’t paying any particular attention to it. And then another 100 later it’s smooth as can be.
