Weirdly enough, suppressors were banned in the 50s and can be traced back to before this. It was related to poaching concerns and the concealment of crime (huge pop culture influence).

It’s a shame it was never reversed.

Yea especially when you hear about places like the UK where supressors are mandatory for hunting. That would be awesome.

What's the rationale behind that? Is it to protect animals from being scared by the sounds and also give humans the advantage in case you miss?

Its for hearing protection and general sound reduction during hunting, nothing to do with missing.

Hunting happens much closer to urban areas, so both hearing protection for the shooter and lower the odds of someone being alarmed at gunfire in a nearby town

Laugh all you want, it's a fucking question! We don't have those rules here. I can shoot geese and duck from my patio - no silencer needed.
