Just take them. Theres no more registry so no one knows who has nr firearms anymore. As long as ur allowed to be in possession

New rules say you must confirm PAL is valid. Not sure how that works if uncle's PAL isn't valid.

I assumed transferring ownership would require verification, just like selling a gun.

I am not sure why you are focusing so much on a technicality.

If OP uncle was a firearm owner, and he has own those firearms for past 10 years or longer, then he owns the firearms.

If his PAL expires, it just means that he legally can't possess any firearms, but those still belongs to him and it would be ideal to transfer them to someone that has valid firearms. I mean there are other ways to prove that's his such as receipts and photos but honestly that's just abit too much.

A PAL verification would be for, if you intend to transfer firearms to someone that you don't know, and no background history.

It would also be a bit pointless to get the uncle to redo the course and get the PAL active again just to transfer them to someone else.

There is also estate sale, where no one in the family that has PAL, but it's still in their possession. Would they have to go get PALs as well just to sell them firearms? Mostly likely either give them to auction, or do PAL verifications to make sure any person they don't know is a valid PAL holder.

The uncle is confirming he is giving them to someone who has a PAL.
