Anybody know what gun his mag would used in? Looks a lot bigger than 5.56-.223 to me.

That's because there's not many firearms that can withstand arctic conditions. They were using Lee-Enfields for the longest time and were pretty much forced to adopt a new rifle because the Lee-Enfields they had were on their last legs and spare parts were getting scarce.
Not to say that the C19 isn't suffering from it's own set of issues either, probably will be rectified but Tikka bolt lugs are pretty thin imho and a possible weak point in the future once these rifles start seeing some wear & tear.
this guys still use M1917 Enfields loaded with .30-06 SLAP for polar bear defence. Really underscores how brutal extreme cold is on mechanical equipment.
Might be worth revisiting the OG AR-10 like what the Dutch KLM airline packed in the arctic survival kits for the transpolar routes they were taking back in the mid-50's. Hell since the entire region is warming up, something like the SCAR-20S might do just fine in the future.
