Buy recommendations Getting into Semi's

Hey guys, I've got me a nice hunting rifle and a good shotgun, a Tikka t3x, and a mossberg 590, looking to get into semi autos and just looking for recommendations from anybody who's shot the specific models and what they would recommend? I fired the SKS and the Citadel, was wondering about the akdas and Henry homesteader, any advice would be nice

The Makasi and IWI also go bang when you need them to but with far superior tech and accuracy. Not everyone wants a 1000$ hunk of junk. Yes it fires. Is it accurate? No. You’re spending 1k plus on a 60 year old rifle that was a few hundred dollars not that long ago. Seems like you’re being ripped off there compared to just spending the extra 1500$.

Homes were also $20,000 that are now $1,000,000. The sks is more accurate than youre giving it credit. Ive seen guys make 1000m shots with it. Plenty of people have hunted large game with it. Only a person with no experience with an sks would call it a hunk of junk

I have 2 Sks 1 bubba and 1 stock, but I’m also not naive to think my old ass rifle is going to out preform my modern day AR hybrid. The Sks was great when it was a few hundred dollars but not even justifiable when they’re this expensive. Save the extra coin. Get a modern rifle at that point. Yes you’re spending more. But for a rifle that will run circles around the sks. And if you’re scared about the “supposedly” bad Makasi quality control go with the IWI. That rifle will not disappoint. But not as much after market for it unfortunately. Makasi is so awesome for its AR compatibility. I love mine.

A custom sks can be great. This is mine. Extremely reliable and way better with magazines. Also a few different modern internal pieces such as Springed firing pin You Also gotta machine down the bolt to allow magazine entry with a closed bolt. But this would cost about the same price as a MK-15 in the modern day. Which is why I think it’s better to just save the extra coin for the better rifle.
