Second Gun, Second Day, Mauser 1911 Just Arrived! Never fired a gun in my life yet so can't comment much except that It's heavier than I thought, all metal, 5 inch barrel, and even the magazines are all metal. Doesn't look like there's any rail for a light or slide cut for a red dot. It's made by GSG in Germany so the same one as the Sig Sauer 1911-22 variants. Not much else to say other than always wanted a classic 1911 that is cost effective to shoot and light on recoil. I think it's ironic that all GSG 22LR rifles have been prohibited but all 1911 GSG pistol variants are ok.

I enjoyed my GSG 1911 when I had it. Loved CCI HV ammo.

It requires HV ammo due to the slide being heavy. I wonder how hyper velocity CCI ammo would work.

Least you got a hand gun, good job I have enough 22s so I can’t be bothered now if it allowed larger caliber under the exemption it would be a game changer

I find that hard to believe least I was able to get a glock 19x before freeze I just wanted something in 44mag yet lol

Glock 44V is almost identical to 19 and much cheaper to shoot.

Yeah wife has one still not as fun as 9mm and the 19 isn’t the same as the 19x it’s a glock 17 frame with 19 slide…

Interesting so it's basically a reverse of the Glock 45 which is 19 frame and 17 slide. Unfortunately we're limited to what we can still get.

Yeah definitely unfortunate lol and I think that’s the same idea, I have big mitts I can’t hold a 19 or even my wife’s 44 correct my hand sits way below the grip it’s weird but the 19x fits good for me

Where will you get a glock 44 that has a barrel length over 4.1 in, they used to make special models with 4.17” barrels for Canada, they are not available anymore to be imported from USA

Already ordered it. It's a Glock 44 V USA version and then the barrel is swapped to the longer OEM threaded barrel and imported as one unit. The longer barrel makes it Canadian compliant. IRG has them in stock and they install and import as one unit. It ends up costing twice as much but as you said there's none in Canada.

one more question, did bctsa gave out multiple exemptions in one request? or you had to send multiple letters?

It's a specific letter for each make and model one per request.

I wish people would stop calling it a loophole. It's obeying the law as it's written. Poly would love to close so-called "loopholes". This ain't one of them.

Agreed. It's not a loophole. It's a legitimate way for olympic shooters & those training in the discipline to obtain the tools of their sport.

And for people that are interested in the sport to test it out. 22lr pistols serve no purpose other than sport shooting.

Well, isnt that same for same for other calibers as well.
Pistols are only for the range mostly.

Congrats on the purchase! Just need to look up on the previous posts in the sub to deal with minor issues for GSG 22lr.
I remember seeing them in the past quite a bit, but it seems they ran ok once things been addressed.

Is a Glock 44V more reliable? Going to get that next. I think the issues had more to do with the rifles.

Glock 44 is fantastic got the wife the Tiffany blue one looks good too. Glock is always reliable long as you don’t gucci it. I still did AOS optic cut, dragon snout and Cerakote on my 19x but it’s still the og slide

I had seen posts with people have their issue with GSG 22lr quite often in the past, so I end up getting Glock 44 instead.
If you search it up, you will see the posts detailing what the issues were and how to deal with them.
Then again, I never had any issue with my GSG16 before I give them to Mike from Canmore. Lol

Hard to say it could be ammo issues. I watched a lot of Youtube video reviews. It requires HV ammo. Definitely getting a Glock 44 V as well as the main and will use FN 502 as the main as well.

Word of advice don't rely on the side release too much as the slide is material is softer than the slide release as will eventually chew out the slide. Have fun with you 22 trainer 1911 is a fun platform to use
If I recall on the manual it stated a requirement for high velocity ammo. I've seen cci minimag 36gr HP run fine

Don’t let people poop on your parade. I had a GSG 1911 and really enjoyed it. Make sure it’s lubricated properly and break it in. Like others have said, use HV ammo. Mine had no issues using CCI and Aguila HV stuff. I didn’t like the really cheap stuff like Remington Thunderbolt. I had ok-ish reliability with the Federal copper tipped bulk pack.

German Sport Guns GSG makes 22LRs from Germany under different brands like Mauser and Sig Sauer.

It's in USD. Total Amount: USD 488, plus 98 CAD which is duty, shipping, tax (GST). The magazines I bought separately in Canada 4 × $45.99 CAD from Siwash Sports. Magazines are the Sig Sauer/GSG 1911-22 and easy to find all metal. Lots of magazines in Canada but no new pistols. I prefer to buy the magazines directly from IRG if they have them to avoid the extra shipping and PST and having a separate order in Canada.

This is how much GSG/SigSauer/Mauser 1911-22 cost since people keep asking. Add another 100 CAD or so for GST, Duty, and Canada Post parcel shipping. Takes about 2 months to get it from the order date.
