It's actually crazy our firearm laws are made by people who have absolutely no background in policing/military/outdoors/etc.

You'd think the Minister of Public Safety would know the Firearms Act like the back of their hand instead of being passed a note because he doesn't what an RPAL is. It's like if the Minister of Transportation never had a driver's license.

And Nathalie.... uuggghhh....

A thing that REALLY bothers me about Prevost's position is that like, don't we need an actual secretary of nature?

I'm a big nature guy. If I didn't like guns and motorcycles so much, everyone would call me a hippy. I'm actually really mad that they put her in charge of conservation and climate change, pretty much my #3 and #2 issues respectively, and she ain't doing shit all about that and instead making fat bank off of being the leader of Poly.

Gun stuff aside, this is really wrong IMO.

Don't get mixed up, Provost is "secretary of state for nature", which isn't an actual cabinet position. The current Minister of the Environment is Julie Dabrusin, who took over for Steven Guilbeault last year.

In fairness if that was a real position she's doing a pretty horrible job of it. I mean part of our country is burning and producing a big black cloud of smoke.

Exactly! I'd hate her way less if her bait and switch job appointment was like, Minister of francophone street signs or something.

It regularly feels like we live in a kakistocracy, where the worst of the worst are elected for their positions. Nathalie belongs nowhere near any gov't institution, Gary falls on his face repeatedly and at this point it's hard to watch. All the worst cabinet members from the previous gov't are still around; they've just been shuffled to different branches, but it's pretty well the same people. It's actually a joke, but the joke is on us.

Had to look that up. Cool new word.

I know the feeling. Here in the USA, it is mostly the worst of the worst that are elected in our two main political parties. Not sure on statistics for Canada. However, in the USA, everyone really claims to care about politics but roughly 80% of registered voters don’t vote in primary elections (and that is best shot at voting all the scumbag politicians out).

One of Trudeau's ministers, Bill Blair, was the former chief of police in Toronto. He knew deal, but like every crooked Liberal, he still attacked legal gun ownership. C-71, then the banning of so-called assault style long guns, then the new backdoor registry.

It's a shame she survived. Never thought I'd say such a thing but she's fucking psychotic and her crusade is against people who are not responsible for what happened and would never be responsible for such violence. Since she wants to come after us though instead of the real criminals I have lost all pity for her and the other survivors crusading with her.

I mean, is it really a surprise in this country? Our current and most of our former ministers of defense have never served in the military in any capacity. The majority of cabinet members past and present are lawyers by trade, Mr. Public Safety included. Obviously not good lawyers, since they ought to know the laws they govern under even more.
