She should never hold a job in serious journalism ever again. If she doesn't know how the police can identify whether a gun is legally and lawfully owned or outright illegally smuggled into Canada she doesn't need to be asking questions about firearms.

The very brief indignant look on his face, immediately followed up by his matter-a-fact response is what the moment called for from this asinine reporter's question.

Reporter: quickly come up with a sound byte for my producer "yeah, but like how do you know they're illegal!?"

Was your plan to catch him in a lie? Or simply to get him on record to contradict Jim Bronskill's article regarding the RCMP's "findings"

The political capital being pissed away by the Federal Liberals clearly has a finish line. My sincere hope it that it ends with the Supreme Court, albeit, in our favor.

The problem I have is that the 10 to 15% that might, MIGHT, be legal firearms owners is what they will hang their hat on. Because they can't trace them back to smuggled from the USA they will conclude that they where legally purchased here. Which I can guarantee you is not the case. They just can't be traced to the USA or Canada. Hell they could be smuggled from Europe for all we know. At this point Europe has less strict laws then we do.

Many of those firearms can also be determined with certainty to not be domestically sourced, by reason of being prohibited with no history of legal importation. Unfortunately this reasoning doesn't get applied.

If a prohibited handgun model has never been imported by any police department, movie prop company, the military, or whoever else, then clearly it can't be domestically sourced.

Well she could be asking questions that the random person would ask. In that regard she set him up perfectly to disprove that.

Forget how the cops can actually trace guns. Try a little common sense.

Like if I’m a criminal and want to use a gun while committing a violent offence, am I really going to go through the hassle of the safety course, background check, wait for my license, and then get a legal gun?

Or perhaps if I am ok with breaking several laws and using a gun while committing said crimes, I’m also perfectly fine with obtaining a gun unlawfully also.

Which scenario is more likely?🤔
