What disgusts me a lot, what’s the game plan with these moronic reporters, convince the public to focus more on law abiding guns owners and keep having gang members operate with no resistance since all the money and police effort will be dealing with farmers??

Like they want Canada to fail

They can ban all the legal guns they want. They can ban legal gun ownership if they want and people will still be gunned down in the streets of Canadian cities on a daily basis as if nothing happened.

The amount of energy, breath and screen time that is being absolutely wasted on trying to push this stupid fucking narrative is what’s most frustrating. Innocent people are being caught in the crossfire of gang wars or being targeted directly by people who have absolutely no regard or respect for human life. The common denominator? None of these people have licenses. None of these people are allowed to own guns and in most cases *already* have lifetime bans on them.

The people who are the real problem keep getting released on lowball bail and they’re collecting charges and indictments like Xbox achievements and still you get meatballs who still push the whole “legal guns are bad” schtick.

At this point blaming legal firearms makes you look stupid. When everything is gone what will you blame? What will you tell the families of victims? Will you finally admit that criminals don’t give a fuck about bans and go after them? That would be a tacit admission that you wasted years, untold amounts of money and breath just fucking around while people get killed.

God I can’t stand this shit.

Since they started prohibiting specific models of firearms and froze handguns, shootings have actually gone up a fair amount IIRC

It's almost like banning legal guns emboldens criminals or something!

You are giving criminals too much credit my dude.

Banning guns didn't "embolden" anyone. Crime has been on the rise across the board and its not like your average street hood was worried about legal firearm owners in the first place, given how restricted those same owners are in terms of self defense.

Farmer Fred still has his 12 gauge by the door, just the same as he did for the last 40 years and just the same as he will until the day he dies. Nothing changed there

It’s absolute degeneracy at this point, literal fucking lunatics!

I swear to god JT poisoned half this country to lose all critical thinking and be like him. It’s madness

After every gun has been banned in Canada, when the next shooting will happen, they'll still blame us somehow.

Airsoft, Paintball - you know, the "Gateway Guns" that one of the firearm prohibition lobby groups whined about awhile ago. Then probably nerf guns.
When those are gone its going to be video games with guns (again).
No, its not logical at all, but it hasn't been in a very long time.

Some of the money that Poly gets has been used to motorize the proverbial goalposts.

Well they do because they benefit from the stories they will be able to tell. There's no story if there's no problem.

Well, I think part of it is job security.

If their employers is like Global or CTV, they would have to assist the narrative that firearm owners are bad, and every opportunity to paint them in a negative way is the "right way" to keep your job.

I am sure many people view RCMP the same way, when their payroll is tie to the federal government

Media consortium seeks Tumbler Ridge shooting documents

In some way, I feel the BC government is trying to shift the blame to chatGPT for the eventual mass shooting done by the suspect to hide their own incompetence.

With so many issues relating to mental health, bad immigration policies, and our constant loophole with criminal law and enforcement. You just can't keep on stuffing it to the firearm owners face and said, yup. It's a their fault with their SKS and safe full of guns. Which mind you had been mostly prohibited, almost all prohibited, and I can count with 2 hands for semi autos left in Canada from 2020 to 2025. Oh, and how many handguns were used in crime with legal firearm owners for past 4 yrs? I don't think it's that many, I can think of maybe 3 tops.

They want to shift the blame to chatGPT (not that they don't carry some) because to have to acknowledge an extremely mentally ill teen, on gender reassignment meds plus the mental health meds they were also on, got a hold of illegal guns and shot up a school wearing a dress and wig simply must not be done. Ever.

It flies in the face of so many narratives that its necessary to bury it. If it was an incel white male, we would know everything down to the last bowel movement.

As much as it may anger people here for me to say it: It’s often just simple ignorance mixed with the visceral reaction shootings create. I honestly don’t blame the uninitiated and don’t necessarily think that the media has some hidden agenda. I just think it’s natural to fear the things you don’t understand.

This excludes poly and other similar groups, where they clearly have an agenda and are outright intentionally misrepresenting the facts to align the narrative with a specific worldview. Even this comes from trauma and prejudice. Though this doesn’t make it right.
