News / Politics / Activism Winnipeg “rally against the gun grab”:

Anybody going to this today? What are you bringing for signs and such or do they generally have a pile you grab from once you show up (never been to any kind of protest before)

It’s not like the officers are to blame. Let’s be real, even beat cops on the ground probably roll their eyes at the delusional fantasies gun control nuts have about guns.

Plus, I'm pretty sure the police unions were instrumental in having department after department come out against the program.

I think most people here would be shocked at the sheer number of police that are either gun owners, or highly sympathetic at the very least towards gun owners. And on how many have very clearly said they do not intend to comply should every doomsday posters fear come true and mass gun grabs start taking place. (In western Canada anyway)

In 12 years I can think of ONE violent crime committed by a legal gun owner with a legal gun. We (those of us actually on the ground) know damn well the Canadian firearms community is not the problem.

Unfortunately our fellow Canadians keep electing very anti firearms, and anti democratic process MPs and parties.

Not to change the subject, but there are so many gun control nerds out there who don't know the first thing about firearms—like, they’d probably mistake a black tree branch for an AR-15.

I hate to bring this up, but why did someone show up wearing a Texas t-shirt?

People really need to have better situational awareness, especially with the CBC and anti-gun activists watching so closely.

And of course, this ended up being the main cover photo for the CBC article about the rally.
