Misc American here with a few questions

I'm not trying to gloat or anything like that, just genuinely curious about Canadians and how they're feeling about guns, gun rights, and gun purchases. You guys were clearly given the shaft when it comes to guns.

Question 1: I see a lot of comments here passing up on $900 SKS's or Carmel's because they're a ripoff. Why not spend a little extra to get your hands on a semi-automatic rifle since the vast majority of them are banned? I feel like I would if I were in your shoes. 22's are just cope imo.

Question 2: how sacred are guns to the average user here?

Question 3: how is morale? Do you guys have hope for the future? If a conservative PM wins, do you think he'll unban a lot of shit?

Hey glad you’re asking questions because let us be the canary in the coal mine for all gun rights, it never ends and they’ll come after all. To answer your questions

Question 1: you are absolutely right, anyone saying otherwise is missing out or just coping because they don’t have the money. Having a non-restricted (not registered) semi auto rifle that’s reliable is worth its weight in gold, considering where things are headed

Question 2: guns are not sacred at all to the average user even among gun owners. We just don’t have that fighting spirit like you guys down south. Even gun owners are on here gloating they gave up their guns to the government. People here have up historical relics that were not even registered. It’s really unfortunate.

Question 3: mixed to be honest, a lot of us are holding strong, but even among those holding moral is hard, because the liberal party has a chokehold on our country, they run the media, they gained a majority without an election and backroom deals and passed the worst surveillance bill in Canadian history and yet their polls are still exploding. Life here is bad and getting worse, unemployment, cost of living and housing is blowing up here, yet the polls surge even more for LPC.

Moral is low, but we remain hopeful, it’s all we have

Interesting you say this, because I’d say only some of what you’re saying is true and only in some states. IIRC, New York State has much stranger and similarly strict laws (the Pardini SP is considered an assault weapon). Still better than here for many states, but I’d say that with the bans in Virginia etc they’re already going through what we are, just not at the national level like here.
