Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

5 round limit on semi auto center fire non restricted firearm is lame and stupid. Get rid of it.

How do we make people smarteršŸ˜‚ education isn’t doing its part. Why was an AK banned and a type 81 wasn’t. Why is the SKS not banned if guns are the problem and not people? Why are guns even getting banned in the first place? All Ak platforms banned? Then you ban pistols the most common gun for a criminal to have but they are one of the only ā€œregisteredā€ guns(I know SBR and shit but you know what I mean) there’s so much contradiction and fake nonsense it’s hard to even buy into the laws. I have been safely shooting this with no problem for years and suddenly we are criminals because they can’t tighten shit up on their end.

well, when we say "why isn't the Type 81 banned if the AK is" and "why aren't handguns banned if they're the guns most used by criminals", the antigunners' response isn't "good point. We're dumb aren't we?" Instead they respond with "good point. We'll ban them all".

"knives kill tons of people why aren't you banning them too?!!" Oh don't worry sir, the progressives are coming for those too, just give them a minute.

Then you end up like the UK where you once not to long ago could own handguns and semi-auto rifles and now go to jail for carrying a swiss army knife with a lock on the blade.Ā

I really do think that "progressive" morality is based on a worldview that sees evil as something that the environment creates rather than something that springs up in the human heart (whether you put the blame on "sin" or "biological instinct" or whatever). So progressives believe that if you neuter the environment (i.e. remove all guns), people will somehow stop being evil. But unfortunately people will find whatever way to carry out whatever their hearts desire. We gotta address the heart, man.
