Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

The SCC case will be such a fascinating test of democracy and freedom. You have multiple special interest groups and 3 attorney generals from massive provinces. 1 one of which is in a sovereignty crisis in the making. All of which are stating how these bans are completely eroding our freedom

The LPC on the other hand have produced zero evidence saying the bans will make us safer and only push it for vibes and most likely authoritarian rule.

Now it all rests on the judges….🍿

It's much easier to play that clip from chief of TPS with Elizabeth Chow standing behind him making a statement of what everyone has been saying for years.

Most guns used in crime are illegally obtain, and most of them are not from legal firearm owners.

That being said, if the government can just do whatever they want with OICs, it would have serious consequences in land where democracy supposingly exist.

The most frustrating thing is it doesn’t stop people from referencing that bullshit, disingenuous article that tried to imply that most crime guns are legal guns. People obviously didn’t read it, because they fucked around with the statistics and only briefly mentioned that it was fundamentally a percent of a percent.

“Crime guns are legal guns, right?”

“I have 500 articles that say they aren’t, and one article that says they are.”

Grabs the one article.

“I thought so.”

I love that police officer for taking that question from that reporter and setting the record straight, but that needs to be spread far and wide.

That's why we need law enforcement to repeat the fact over and over again. It's all about countering that mis informative.

It's also doesn't take that much to figure out that most guns used by criminals were illegal to begin with. So you can only brainwash them so much. Well, at least people I talked to figured it out eventually.

You know what would drastically improve public safety? A ban or license requirement on these freaking e-scooters. That would have more impact than the useless OICs.

One person in Vancouver passed away recently because a helmet wasn't worn while using the e scooter and cause the rider to hit the head when a crash happened.

That being said, I said similar thing with cyclist as well.

If drivers need to wear seatbelt, why would cyclist and scooter riding not wearing protective gear as well.
