Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Something something I miss guns something boomers bad something something no hope and despair for me

Guys my heart isnt in it anymore, not just the fight for guns but for anything. Its just come to my realization today that ive downgraded my life expectations from having my partner, working a good job and owning a house(and lots of guns), to just good job and house ownership (and some guns) to good job (and guns) to now all I want to do is be able to go to one grocery store and pick up all my regular foods and  ingredients without needing to calculate and evaluate everything making sure im being optimized with my money and make it to the end of the month, feel like im playing a fucking paradox game with the amount of bullshit balancing and micromanaging i need to do.

I went from having dreams and aspirations for the future to "current objective: survive". Which is currently failing.

I fucking hate anyone and everyone who tries to pretend this current situation is good, or even worse actually believes it.

Our society is collapsing in real time and people wonder why I am cynical and a prepper. Maybe y’all should have left a better world for the Gen Zers boomers.

The way the media praises the Liberals for their abysmal record is truly something out of a science fiction novel. They’ve even successfully made it mainstream to criticize people that call out the madness of the current state of affairs.

Millions of Canadians are having their heads pushed below water and those same groups are being told everything is fine, this isn’t anyone’s fault - and they’re believing it. It’s truly a masterclass on deflecting all blame, even these Ontario government ads about how they’re making Ontario safer are insane - propaganda paid for by our corrupt government. Sad state of affairs, we had a chance for change last April and we blew it. The worst is yet to come.

But he's a mater economist! But the degrees! Dear leader will be our salvation!

The guy is literally just as incompetent as Trudeau. People went on and on about his Davos speech, that I guarantee he didn't even write himself.

I actually sort of want Trump to bail on USMCA right now, so we can just skip the managed decline and just rock bottom out and get it over with.

Its funny how our media has just totally ignored the US saying they dont want to renew, and Liberals going "but we still have 10 years, who cares", sure, we have 10 years, but new production facilities take years to setup. Why would say Honda, or GM, even risk expanding production in this country? Why would ANY foreign money pick Canada when you could go to the US, have a larger market, lower taxes, fast approvals, and lower regulation? And no weird forced race based partnerships either.

This country is literally doing EVERYTHING it can to be as unattractive as possible to investment.

I couldn’t agree more. The brain drain is just a flashy headline now, wait 10 years after all our best and brightest head to the US, who will pay the interest on Carneys 100B annual deficits?

Or wait until the bond market figures out Canada has no hope of ever digging ourselves out of the hole Liberals dug for us, it won’t happen overnight but when it does it’ll be too late to do anything.

The problems we are seeing now are just the beginning, I’ve already seen headlines saying emergency room wait times can be up to 48 hours now for non life threatening injuries, this is the Liberal utopia more than half the country wanted.

I agree, people saying that "things are going to get better" or that "things aren't that bad" are coping hard

Maybe I'm too doomerpilled, but that naive optimism is nauseating

I feel this so much. Im currently starting my last effort for what little can maybe be salvaged of my dreams but frankly, I don't have hope. Im not just talking guns or political parties but qol, col, happiness etc.

Haven't been out shooting in 8 months and frankly, no desire to change that. SCC win or not, just dont have the passion to do it anymore. Too many negative feelings from the years gone by and dismal future coming that I get no joy from it at all. Probably gonna sell what might be allowed to be sold after the SCC and go from there.

But thats just me. Frankly dunno why I still follow this sub anymore cus its rarely any good news. I did my bit, held out against the buy back and bans for 7 years. Watched my prospects for anything wither up. Im so so tired boss.

It really the amalgamation of the things you said is why I lost a lot of motivation. It is seeing the clear objectivity of the decline of this country and then having to deal with everyone's cognitive dissonance towards it.

The biggest battles are the ones you face against yourself.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
