Fix my gun Rifle Jumping.
So I am not new to shooting but have yet to experience this. And yes i k ow I sound dumb but I gotta ask.
When i am running my Ruger American Ranch, I find that the rifle "hops" after each shot. I am holding tight as I do with any other rifle. Admittedly this is my first "short " rifle. Could it be caused by the muzzle blast? Its 6.5 Creedmoor if that helps. It really not causing any issue with accuracy but is killing my follow through.
If i put it in my BOG tripod it is nearly non existent, which is why I feel it may be muzzle blast coming off the shooting table at the range.

A .muzzle will jump and rise on just about any rifle, even a 10/22 will experience it to some degree.
A few devices can help; a vertical foregrip can help you keep downward tension on the front of the rifle, but it may be tough to mount on a traditional rifle stock and it'll look goofy but its a choice you can make for your own rifle.
A muzzle device; a muzzle brake can reduce the recoil of the rifle, and in turn, potentially reduce the jump, but a properly ported and aligned compensator is designed to vent gasses upward to push the muzzle down when its discharged.
