So I was browsing through Canada subreddit to see what the reaction is. The manifesto by the suspect actually spur quite a bit of debate there because of the shooter's belief and political alignment. Many assume the alignment to be right, but it seems to be left leaning and involvement of capitalism which spawns the world that we have now being managed be the corporate elites.

Though some people there really did raise some good point regarding to police training and with civilians involved situation. Here is one of the comments I took note of.

Why is no news outlet covering the fact that the only civilian who died was shot by the cop, and then after she killed the guy she ran away screaming. 

We need a serious discussion about hiring a real police force in this country. The only thing our police are good for is handing out fines to working class people. They are utterly incompetent at doing anything to protect public safety.

I don’t think it is. I very rarely defend police but she’s not really to blame in this instance imo. Did you watch the footage? She had to make a life and death decision in a split second and I’d guess that most people in her position would assume it was the gunman appearing from that angle. Not to mention she just watched her colleague get shot/murdered which obviously raises the stakes.

The key here is “most people”. 

She is a trained professional public defendant. If we’re giving people state backing to use lethal force as part of their job description then those people better be vetted and highly qualified. 

If we aren’t going to have highly qualified and trained individuals in those roles then we should all have the right to defend ourselves because the state is clearly proving itself to be incompetent and incapable of doing so. 

It’s an incredibly serious topic and not one that should be brushed aside because “she panicked in a life and death situation”. When doctors, or pilots, or rescue teams panic and make the wrong decision they are still heald accountable for their actions.

Fair enough. I agree with your points here but I do believe we all already have the right to defend ourselves.

I know that this sub commonly discussed about the right to defend ourselves, but when it comes to use firearm as last resort, this will usually result the firearm owner to drag through the mud just to fight the legal battles. Not to mention that the police are often out stretch and takes awhile to arrive on scene.

I guess that's Canada for you.

Imagine the outrage against the police if it were a white male accidentally shooting a black civilian. It's disgusting how some people are blaming the civilian.
