Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Dunno about that. CCFR just posted some video with carney about them looking at ways on how to reform the process to ban shit

All he was saying was how the rcmp or some Quebec police people are investigating and they’ll see what happens. Same thing they said after tumbler ridge and then let everyone move on

BUTTT he did mention “new firearms coming in to the market”. Mk15 and Carmel mentioned? And apparently this new system is going to be “expert led”. Please don’t just be Poly making and passing laws. And towards the end of the video he just deflected by saying LPC is making more bail reform and stuff.

In French he said “when it comes to banning some firearms we are currently changing that process. We’re looking at reform”

What is there to reform!? They basically ignore the Firearms Act anyway...

Maybe, but I don't think so, he's deferring responsibility to the RCMP for this issue, and the RCMP already submitted the FRT. And also, the court case for the OIC challenge is ongoing too, so any bans will probably be in a year or two (but also, I'm copemaxxing pretty hard rn as well)

But like you said, memory holed because of the female officer shooting the civilian, he basically sidestepped it in the interview
