Buy recommendations Henry supreme mag?

Post image

I just put a down payment on a Henry supreme 5.56 at my local gun store. I was under the impression that these magazines have to be pinned to 5 but my gun store employee said it's a 10 round limit which makes no sense to me. Is there some sort of loophole that he knows about and I don't? Or was he bullshitting / mistaken? Pic for attention.

Regardless, what is the best magazine option for these things in Canada? All I'm going to be using it for is target shooting for now.

Thanks In advance!

What makes an ar mag a pistol mag? Sorry I'm actually very new to the firearms world, only had my PAL for about a year and a half now.

The law states that the limit is based on the "firearm the magazine was designed for" and that "pistol magazines can have 10 rounds"

Because the LAR15 "Pistol" was in canada for a minute, the LAR15 "Pistol" mag can be 10 rounds. This mag is a standard AR mage the only difference being that it was "designed for a pistol" which makes it able to have 10 rounds.

Welcome to Canadian gun laws brother, glad you're here!

To add: the rule of thumb I go with is that if the magazine has the words 'pistol magazine' or some other clear indication on it from the factory, then it's definitely a pistol magazine

yeah this isnt safe though, anyone can just etch pistol on it. The magazine has to be in the documented design for the gun. This is why we can't just write pistol on AR15 magazines.

As I say, has to be from the factory. It's pretty easy to tell if the text was included in the mold/stamping or added after the fact. Personally I always keep a paper copy of the RCMP special bulletin in my range bag if I'm using pistol mags in a rifle, just in case

Do you have a link to this document? I definitely want to do the same thing. Very smart.

Can't find it it right now, horse seems to have changed their website yet again. It's Special Bulletin 72, can probably find on via Wayback, was put out March of 2011 iirc. Will try and remember to get a working link after work

They moved to the new HTML website and the old SB72 got replaced with this: https://rcmp.ca/en/firearms/classes-firearms/maximum-permitted-magazine-capacity
