Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

CZ RANT

I’m going to be blunt: if you rage at individuals for turning guns in under the confiscation program, but you’re still willing to buy new CZ/Colt Canada products because they make cool guns, you’re scum and you’re a hypocrite.

Colt Canada, aka CZ, was tied to this mess to some extent. Exactly how much, and whether they still are, has been kept nice and muddy for the rest of us. But it was confirmed they were involved with the LPC enough that this became an issue in the first place, and that should be enough for anyone who claims to have principles.

So for gods sake spare people the lecture about some scumbag taking compensation, while you’re still financially supporting a company connected to the same system because you want a new toy. Is he right for turning his gun in like a rat? No, but buying CZ is JUST AS BAD.

The common CZ apologist copes are literally identical to the confiscation compliance copes.

Proof:

  1. “We’re already so limited, why limit ourselves more?”

Congratulations, you have a double-digit IQ. That is literally the point. A boycott is supposed to be inconvenient. That is what makes it a sacrifice.
Exhibit A: “The guns are already banned, so why not take the money?”

2.“CZ makes good products though.”

Yes. Correct. That is why having principles COSTS something.
Exhibit B: “I paid good money for these guns though.”

3.“Me not buying one won’t change anything.”

Funny how that excuse is cowardice when someone else says it, but suddenly practical realism when it protects your next purchase.
Exhibit C: “Me turning mine in won’t change anything.”

4.“I don’t want to punish myself over politics.”

That’s cool, but then stop pretending you’re taking some hardline stand by rejecting confiscation. You’re just folding at a different price point.
Exhibit D: “I don’t want to lose money by refusing to turn my restricted firearms in over politics.”

5.“There aren’t many good options left in Canada.”

Again, that is the point. The whole situation sucks. Principles matter MORE when the easy options are gone, not less. Read that out again if it didn't sink in.
Exhibit E: “There aren’t many legal options left for these banned guns.”

Honestly, hot take: it's not eventhe same, supporting CZ is worse. Why? Because refusing compensation meant eating a real loss on property you already own and may never legally use again. That's hard. But boycotting CZ just means not buying something.... that's...easy. You're telling me you can do one but not the other? Get fucked.

And if your response to this is to write any defence about why it’s actually fine to buy new CZ products, I want you to understand something: your attitude, not just the LPC’s attitude, and not just their boomer/urbanite voter base, is exactly why we are in this situation.

When people say Canada is a cucked country, they are talking about people like you. You fold under zero pressure.

To be fair there's not much to buy from CZ at this point anyways. Personally, I don't want any of their shotguns and the only gun I'd even be remotely interested in the future might be their 457 American rifle in the LH since there's not much available at the moment for left hand rimfire rifles.
