Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Whatever the answers are, they don't support the government narrative. The details that we do know already open several cans of worms that the government doesn't want to deal with. They are happy to let this one fade away. Just be thankful that we dodged a bullet this time.

My personal theory is since the brother has prior firearms charges is that this was a much larger fuck up by the RCMP than we had initially thought. It may be some of the firearms used were obtained through illegal firearms trafficking (possibly from the states). The RCMP is trying to figure out how to best release this to the public and it would also make the liberals look bad so they’re in no rush either.

Yes there is that but the shooter too has a uh... unfortunate identity that opening this can of worms will go agaisnt their entire narrative of a certain..... jeez how do i say this without getting banned....(i havent finished schizo posting this week no ban pls).

 The shooter had mental illnesses and was a member of a group that predominantly has people with mental illnesses in it and the government doesnt want to make this connection.

Yeah, you do have to be very careful talking about that on here. Reddit has banned me multiple times for politely discussing those topics. We get what you mean.

Like I said before, I think the government wanted it memory holed very quickly because of the optics of it, the identity politics behind it. 

It's interesting, because that shooting was on par with the Poly shooting in terms of horror and damage, yet the Poly shooting is still brought up decades later, while the Tumbler ridge shooting has been memory holed and swept under the rug. I think it boils down to the identity factor being something the government wants to ignore.

It certainly looks that way at least.

Probably because they probably were smuggled by the shooters brother. As soon as the shooting happened they started looking for him and he was on the run to Alberta. Fishy as fuck.

I'm sure once a list of the firearms she used in the shooting is released that poly will squawk about it as loud as they can

I mean that’s what Poly does for every single shooting (and not a shooting cough cough the Ottawa stabbings.) The question comes down to will they fall under government deaf ears this time? I would have to say yes because the government is trying to memory hole this shooting as it’s looking like almost a Nova Scotia shooting situation where the shooter got some of the guns illegally I.e smuggled in and not just stolen from a legal licensed gun ownerX

Our incompetent minister Gary was on CJAD800 last month so I texted in and asked the host to ask him about it and what guns were used.

Gary said that the RCMP's investigation is still not complete so we still don't know... what a load of BS.
