Gun and gear reviews Makasi imbound?
Just saw this post from Brigade. I have a feeling those are headed north.

I hope we get the 7.62 version

u/JaxIsLoud Jun 06 '26
I'd love to be able to order a second upper in 7.62.

It’s x39 even that cheap at this point? Seems like 223 is similar priced now a days.

u/Benefit_Waste Jun 06 '26
Ive never shot 5.56 but im willing to try. I just prefer 7.62 personally

I think many have stocked up on 7.62x39? Even though surplus has dried up, Norinco Red Box is still priced OK.

Some of us like to make barricade busters where shorter range is not a undue issue, and penetration is prized over range.
Never mind how devastating SP is for hunting.
I still prefer it well over the .300 blackout for everything but bullet selection.

Because of the naming convention and bolt/potential gas tube change, it might be a lot harder because of the long frt process.
It might be way simpler to simply buy a x39 upper for a drop in solution.
You could talk to the company and have Aztech run the parts.
No doubt you will be able to recoup your initial loss on the former upper for those wanting to experiment on the upper handguard and frame.
Even in failure, it would represent a valued set of spare parts.

I meant like a full upper with barrel and gas system. Just swap the lower over depending what I want to shoot.

u/RedBoyRob Jun 06 '26
I asked them about that and they said no 308 plans as of yet for makasi platform.

I spoke with the shop I'm dealing with for mine, and they gave me the expected date of August 12th for the first batch on imports, at least to them. I assume some shops may be ahead of them though as they're a smaller shop. Just thought I'd mention it to everyone here that August 12th was the date I heard, obviously could be later though, but it would be cool if some show up sooner too.
First week that these arrive I bet we're going to see a lot of Mk15s up for $4k on GP. $2500 almost feels like a bargain now after seeing the guy trying to sell one for $4500.

Based off what their marketing team replied to me on Instagram they still have not made the 18" barrels. These may just be the restricteds that got ordered through Irunguns.

I've been following the Makasi as a pre-C21 design ever since it first appeared on the US scene. I had my doubts that it would ever arrive in Canada, so was very pleasantly surprised when the FRT dropped and the pre-orders began. I immediately jumped on board with Bullseye North, having had positive experience with them in the past. Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to the arrival of the Makasi later this Summer. I am in serious need of a fun rifle that can help to whittle down my stock of 5.56/.223 ammo.

Hopefully soon, I've seen nowhere online giving a difinitive date.

I asked the shop I'm dealing with for their expected date (that they get them), they told me August 12th was what they were told, of course that can easily change, but it was nice to get a rough timeline. They're a smaller shop though so I assume the big ones like Tenda, FOC, G4C etc may get their shipment before then. Not too long to wait now.
Almost sounds like the Carmel shipment might beat the Mk15 into the country though, despite the Mk15 being announced earlier.

I want a Makasi bad, but am scared Gary and Natalie will smash them with a ban hammer before we get them in our hands.

I cant believe anyone would live like this
Not purchasing an item due to fearing the government
Might as well just relinquish your PAL and donate all your other firearms
You have an entire lifetime to make money

u/newagedefiance Jun 08 '26
Give me the $2400, you sound like you have a bunch of extra money sitting around. It would be different if I could physically buy one then they get banned. But potentially getting banned before it in my hands, no thank you.

u/Mysterious_Sleep7443 Jun 09 '26
Whats 2400$ these days?
Thats a month of groceries or rent
If you dont have an extra 2400$ laying around you are doing something wrong in life, re evaluate yourself
Furthermore i dont give a flying F about bans, that stuff is irrelevant to me , why would you live in fear , you are buying inti the criminal Liberal party
Might as well vote Liberal if your scared of gun bans, thats what they want

Spoken like someone who never plans for the future. I hate the bans as well. But food luck getting one of Hary and Natalie get their hands on them first.

Or you could pre order from tenda. They give a full refund anytime you want and under any circumstances until it is ready to ship.

u/newagedefiance Jun 09 '26
That's awesome. Most places I've seen only offer store credit but I'll check them out.

I went and did a pickup at Marstar a few days ago and asked the staff there. The response was still the generic “end of summer”, was really hoping they had gotten a date.

I'ma wait for the reviews.

there is one review on cgn.

u/JaxIsLoud Jun 07 '26
Doesn't seem like a bad review imo. Basicly saying the gun had a rough first few mags and then wore in quick after that.
Sounds better than a lot of turk guns. Look at you derya tm 22 👀3
u/Bitter_Lettuce2970 Jun 07 '26
That’s true but it also cost $2400. That kind of dog crap fit & finish is unacceptable.

u/JaxIsLoud Jun 07 '26
We will see. So far there's like 6 reviews and only two had anything negative to say. Common point has been that the cerakote was too thick. Which could be the reason for all the negative things. Which means just wear em in and they will be fine

I seen that review not impressed
They used a power tool to install the handguard, the threads from the screws scored the barrel bolt
WK180 BS all over again
Im glad I switched my pre order to the Carmel

u/Major-Ad-4288 Jun 07 '26
too heavy, too much plastic, parts availability low, need a special rod to get the piston out. probably cracks in low temperatures. good luck though

Update. I got a message back from their Instagram. I had previously asked questions about which handgaurd/grip they would come with as pictures of two different ones show up. While they didn't say much they did say
"Hello Jax, we are working on getting a Canadian version (compliant) approved and sent out soon what I know - is that it will be within regulation. Without knowing too much about Canadian regulation myself, I have been told that our Canadian Mccarthy will have a 18 1/2 inch barrel and a five round magazine."
Either their Instagram guy doesn't know anything about what's happening or I would guess that what we saw will be a large order of the restricted versions.
