Shitpost / Memes IWI Carmel Appreciation Post
Howdy Folks,
The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation post, this time I have a bit of an old one that I made, but due to recent news about this gun, I had to share it with y’all!
The one and only:
IWI Carmel!
Coming Soon to the Canadian Gun Market!
If you are considering buying one, I have experience handling one, not shooting it unfortunately, but just handling one. I can still give my 2 cents about it, and why you don’t really hear about it much from us here in the states.
Holding it is actually not terrible, at first it feels like you are holding a brick… UNTIL!
You look at the stock, it folds to the side, but also has an integrated cheek riser. And the Length of Pull is adjustable as well.
Controls are fairly simple, it’s very similar to an ACR XCR in terms of being ambidextrous, and if you have experience with an AR-15 platform (or the C7/C8 if you were in the CAF), it’s fairly easy to get used to since it has very similar controls.
But what’s the actual selling point of it? And why is it not more popular in the US Civilian Market, and why would it benefit the Canadian market more?
Good question!
The Major Selling point is the adjustable gas block, and because it uses a more AR-180 style of it, it’s more saturated for that niche, and it’s why you often see some people running these suppressed, it is mainly bought as the suppressor host gun.
The reason why it’s not more popular in the US Civilian Market is because the market mainly likes to focus on the AR-15 platform, and it’s very difficult to advertise the rifle. AR-180 variants are a bit of a difficult sell here because again, the saturation of the US market is more catered to the AR-15 as it is more of a universal platform that is easier to work with, and is easier to get the parts for.
As to how it would benefit the Canadian gun market, y’all have a bit more experiences with AR-180 platforms, and the market pool is much larger for them. I know some are restricted, but not all, still though, it is worth noting the saturation of the AR-180 market in Canada. It’s a lot better in the Canadian market.
Anyways, thanks for tuning in!
Enjoy!

My apologies if this has been discussed and I missed it, but... what's all the hype for this (and similar) ones, when the govt. can just "amend" the list of banned/prohib to include this as well? Isn't that not what happened to the WKs?
15
u/ProtoJazz Jun 02 '26
Why buy anything if it can banned or made obsolete immediately after? No one can predict the future. I've bought stuff and immediately a newer version comes out or something else changes to make it irrelevant. I've also seen the other end, people saying "don't buy it, wait for..." and the wait is years and years.
I remember all the people years ago saying the sks and homesteader or even Tm22 would be banned. Maybe they will, who knows. But if you'd bought them before, you'd have had a few years of use already

For many people, this also represents the first opportunity to own a modern, well built, tactical rifle. Many newer shooters don't know what it was like to have owned an AR-15, let alone rifles like the XCR or ACR back in the day. There's also a ton of people who missed out either due to financial reasons or just being left with no stock as things were being panic bought before the bans.
Along with the Makasi, this also represents probably the best reliability and build quality over the last remaining semi 223 rifles here. The Backland Hunter has build and quality issues. The Akdas is good in it's form factor, but getting the "tactical" furniture on it is still a step below a purpose built rifle like the Makasi or Carmel (upgrading the furniture on the Akdas is like putting lipstick on a pig). If your thing is running around in the woods larping with nods then it's not even an argument.

I mentioned it in the description.
But to basically TL:DR it’s a non-restricted firearm that is coming to Canada, and it is expanding the rifle pool. I know that’s not much, but it is a reason why a lot of people are excited for it.
If you want to ask more questions about it, r/IWICarmel will gladly answer any questions about the rifle that you have, such as the specs and what not if you want more hands on experience.

Kodiak/BCL slander...I sleep
IWI slander... real shit?.PNG

u/IntroductionAny3929 Jun 02 '26
IWI refuses to bring back the OG Galil and I am mad that they won’t do it because they claim that the tooling was destroyed.
The UZI Pro looks ugly
They won’t bring back the .300 BLK and 9x19mm conversion kits, and they also won’t give us the 5.45x39mm Conversion Kits that Ukrainian Soldiers are using.
I think that’s enough IWI slander for today.

Because this is not a political post, that is the reason why.
These Gun Appreciation Posts are Apolitical, and are not meant to be a place for political discussion or any of that shit. The only time politics will ever be mentioned in these posts is if it is DIRECTLY related to the firearm.
I did not intend for this to turn into a politics circlejerk.

Appreciation post about a product from a genuinely evil company
"My post is apolitical"

u/IntroductionAny3929 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
IWI is a privately owned company, they literally were privatized in 2005.
No one is forcing you to buy a gun, and it was strictly talking about the gun, not the actions of a country.
Other companies also sell to Israel directly, including Ruger, EoTech, Aimpoint, Colt (The US Colt, not Colt Canada), Remington, Glock, and Sig Sauer. All of them do it, yet I don’t see anyone hold consistently over that.

u/Pentium_II Jun 02 '26
There is a clear and distinct difference between a defense company whos products may be used for wrongdoing and a defense company that explicitly supports and boasts that they are the company of choice for wrongdoers.
10
u/IntroductionAny3929 Jun 02 '26
Ironic considering that the IDF buys directly from Colt and they prefer the M4 Carbines over the X95, oh and they also like using the Ruger 10/22 (Popular in Canada BTW) for riot control purposes and Ruger willingly sells it to them. The distinction you’re trying to draw doesn’t hold up. IWI has been a privately owned company since it was fully privatized in 2005. it’s not a state entity, and no one’s forcing anyone to buy their guns, this is about consumer choice in the civilian market for a tool, not endorsing every action of any government.
More importantly, your “explicitly supports and boasts” line is selective and inconsistent. Plenty of other manufacturers actively sell directly and willingly to the IDF because the IDF pays good money for reliable gear, and many of them market that fact. Ruger has long supplied rifles to Israeli forces/police and has highlighted their use by the IDF in their own materials as I said before, Sig Sauer has secured major contracts for machine guns and rifles with the IDF, Colt (US) supplies M4s via contracts, Glock, EOTech, Aimpoint, Remington and others also equip IDF units.
These companies pursue the business for profit, just like IWI. If “boasting about being chosen by the IDF” is the bright line for a boycott, then consistency requires treating Ruger, Sig, Colt, etc. the same way. Singling out IWI while giving the others a pass looks like motivated reasoning rather than a principled stand on “wrongdoers.” Defense companies exist to sell weapons. Armies buy the best ones they can. If you have an issue with how a specific military uses those tools, that’s a separate political and military debate but pretending only one private company is uniquely tainted while ignoring the broader industry doesn’t make the argument coherent.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yea ok buddy
Also, bashing a firearms company (like many of the comments here are) is not political

u/IntroductionAny3929 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
And?
I’m not saying you cannot bash a firearms company. I do that all the time with Daniel Defense and Colt Canada (Which everyone literally does, and has been doing for months, and Colt Canada deserves their flak)

Trying to stand on a moral high ground while buying from pretty much any arms manufacture is a hilarious concept

Three Grand by the way. That's the main reason why it's not gaining traction in the US. Why would they buy a 3k unproven rifle while a 1k aero lower + bcm upper would give you 2k worth of training?

IWI rocks, for the most part as far as quality and reliability is concerned. If you tried to truly boycott that country, it wouldn't be easy. Their tech is in our phones. They invent so many medical innovations, oh, that stuff you don't boycott, ok. IWI rocks. I'd get a Jericho and massada if I could.

I have an X95 myself and it is one of my favorite rifles to shoot! Down here in Texas, it definitely suits the Texas backdrop lol.

Not enough of you took the hint from all of the comment removals. If you want to debate the morality of purchasing an Israeli firearm because of the ongoing conflict you can do that in the recurring politics thread. Thread is closed.
