Feets / Collection / My build Blasphemy? Maybe.
The rear ghost ring on the irons is way too big for me to shoot this gun with any repeatability. The red dot makes a huge difference. Ordered a smaller stem in order to actually use the irons as backup.
S&W 1854 .44, Vortex Sparc 2.

I hear some folks stick an O rings in the ghost ring to make it a smaller hole. Cheap fix if it works!

Yeah that could be the ticketfor sure

See I'm the opposite problem. Citadel levtac with the peep mounted partway down the barrel. It had a threaded insert, plus being further away, means the peep was damn near useless until I took out the insert to widen it. But that's with the peep much further away from my eye.
I think you could add a bit of glue to the oring to make it stay in place too, if you were worried about friction not being enough. Probably it would be enough though

I went with a LPVO to get the red dot feel but also makes hitting small steels spread out at 100yards a fun game. The original sights were so-so for me as I mainly shot open V notch irons

Nice! Yeah it takes a bit to get on target at distance for sure. But I was hitting a 2inch group on steel at 145 yards

You're focusing on the front sight, correct?
The 1854 rear aperture is not big. It shouldn't be causing you problems if you have your fundamentals down.
