Buy recommendations Renegade MKII

Post image

Considering purchasing this, any advice on the optics or the magazine?

MKII owners, can I use this for shots beyond 100m? Is the vortex optic reliable enough for that?

Is there anything else I should add to my cart?

Upgrade the optic to at least a crossfire or diamondback series if you're set on a Vortex optic. You're currently looking at an optic suitable for rimfire applications. Also consider going with an LPVO on a cantilever mount. Ensure you have the proper ring diameter with adequate mount height so that no part of the scope touches any part of the rifle aside from the mounting rings.

Whatever you do end up using for optics, invest in at least a two piece scope levelling kit from amazon, one attaches to the rifle receiver rail and another sits magnetized to the top turret of your optic.

Replace the buttstock with an MOE-SL from Magpul, along with the pistol grip to an MOE grip if you have big hands or an MIAD grip if average sized. The factory stock on the MRA is an el cheapo airsoft one that has bad fitment and wobble issues, and isnt very comfortable

Get a set of foldable iron sights from a non airsoft tier brand. FAB defense makes a good cheap pair of plastic spring loaded sights as a backup, and Magpul MBUS sights are the industry standard for durability and performance.

Get a sling. The MOE-SL stock has built in QD cups on either side and you can get M-lok compatible QD cup attachments for the front handguard from reputable brands for relatively cheap. The sling itself is personal preference, but I like the Gizmo Glider from Rebels Raiders and the Range Line Adjustable from Helikon Tex. Any sling that lets you adjust the length with a simple pull tab should work. Hunting style slings are good enough but won't let you hang the rifle across your front

Bipod can be forgone if you plan on shooting offhand or from a lead sled, but decent mlok or picatinny mount harris-knockoff bipods can be had for about 80 bucks

The MRX bison magazines are okay but like other people say you'll have to remove the bolt catch or grind down its length to ensure the magazines actually feed. If you don't, the back strap of the MRX mag rides too high and lifts the bolt catch when the mag is fully inserted. This prevents the bolt from going into battery.

In my experience the MRX mags can be hit or miss, seems to be down to the fitment of each individual magazine. Some work perfect, others refuse. Your mileage may vary, definitely pick up a couple LAR mags or Cross mags to make sure you have SOMETHING guarenteed to feed reliably while you tinker with the MRX mags
