First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

A question that’s been pretty beat to death at this point, but would you want to see a constitutional right to bear arms similar to the United States, along with similar laws? (Permitless carry, no magazine capacity restrictions, suppressors)

No. I want castle law where you can use firearms as a tool to protect yourself. But that’s it. Something more like what the Czech have is better. Self defence with any tool is allowed and guns are one of the tools. But no CC. The amount of road rage shootings would be insane.

You do know you can get a conceal carry license in the Czech Republic right? However I agree with everything else. I think that it should be in the constitution that the government can't ban weapons at random and must grant someone a license unless a good reason is present why they should not have a license. As we live in a society that is supposed to value innocent until proven guilty.

And I wouldn't lose my job if I got into road rage and shot some people? Like I'd expect a fair bit more of a fucking punishment for road raging and shooting at people hell I'd expect more punishment if it was a cop.

See that's what I'd expect I know the reality is cops can get away with literal murder in some cases.
