Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

I legitimately wonder how the libs will do with the referendum question, a massive sticking point is the gun ban, I legitimately wonder how much more pressure is this program going to take. How much more can the libs double down on this failed project ??

Depends. If the seat gullible is vacating has a chance of bloc picking it up then I expect it to be a key talking point in that by election. Right now whats likely go happen is the SCC grants an injunction forcing another amnesty extension. Then the case gets tried Q1 next year.

The libs will quintuple down until the court (hopefully) says either the OICs were all illegal or that the govt MUST pay everyone every single dollar of actual value if they wont grandfather. Only thing that will stop them from digging deeper is being able to say well we tried but the court said no or the true, astronomical billions and billions cost of doing a serious buyback is forced on them. The real cost of that bill will be something they cant spin or sell no matter how many davos speeches carney could muster.

The referendums are not even on thier radar (coincidentally liberal radar just registers a blank void once you go west of toronto).
