Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

That's the thing. The majority of Canadians either hate guns or really don't give a shit about them. I suspect more of the latter. If you have no skin in the game, you're not going to fight against these stupid gun laws (and I'm not talking about Fudds whom I don't trust).

Show Canadians a use for guns (other than hunting or sport shooting) and they'll stand up to these idiots.

The only way I can see that happening if guns are accepted as a viable means of self defence.

Most Canadians who are anti gun or even indifferent to them are much more open to the argument of guns for sport and hunting as opposed to guns for self defence.

Guns for defence has a very “american” connotation which is in direct conflict to most of that groups political views.

The only way you can generally break that cycle is bringing up a country like the Czech Republic and even then that’s quite a hit or miss move.

In what like day to day communication or? As I remember you talking about wanting to move to a country like Spain, France or Italy?

to pass a gun test in Czechia you need to be very fluent and I'm never going to learn that bugger of a language at my age.

Really not interested in black powder--more interested in CCW

I was talking about France. However in the Czech Republic if you are a perm resident you can conceal carry a double barrel black powder handgun no license. Just some food for thought.
