Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

If you believe the government's data, it like, only 4% of Quebecois who support this nonsense. So more like specific areas of Montreal.

This is perhaps one of the most annoying aspects of this whole debacle for me personally. It was literally a very small, vocal minority in Montreal that decided it wasn’t satisfied with the Firearms Act rewrite after all, and then promptly embarked on a crusade against a community that spans the entire country because they saw an opportunity to push more laws with all of the media attention U.S. mass shootings were receiving.

It’s a small, highly visible group that have this inflated sense of self-righteousness that somehow gives them the moral authority to dictate what everyone else should do from their point of view. This is also coming from a province that already has an outsized influence on Canadian politics, just behind Ontario.

It’s annoying. It’s frustrating and it is personal. How could it not be? I play by the rules. I worked hard for my money and sold years off of my life expectancy as a welder to be able to own these things and make a living. Some of these things represent my only physical connection to family members past and you’re seriously going to put your finger in my face like I’m the one who’s done something wrong, like I’m the one who’s responsible for what happened to you and tell me that I’m the one who has to surrender my shit? You’re going to tell me that I don’t know what’s good for me?

With all due respect, go yell at the people who smuggle guns into the country. Go yell at the people who don’t have a PAL and buy those guns on the street so that they can use them to harass and terrorize other people.

Dont forget they are literally getting paid BY the federal government to in turn lobby the government.
