Honestly im not even sure if the timming for the supreme court case is right. They have a majortiy and could simply ban them with a proper bill wich will have no hope to be reverse like the OIC.
Well. The majority liberals have right now is not very strong. It’s a super big tent centered around economic agendas. That means they will push economic policies first and then use gun control to please the mega city voters.
Therefore, the worst case could come when liberals really screwed up or decided to call an election. Gun control right now is still very low on the ballot question list. I won’t spend much time on this topic because of the limited return.
Carney’s government inherited some of the gun control policy from Trudeau era and they seem to be distancing themselves from the previous liberal government. In my humble opinion, this is more like a side arm for them. Won’t be using too much now but it’s good to have it.
The gun control program is also a total failure if not a national joke now. CPC is trying to leverage on this matter so that gives libs more reason to keep this a cold dead issue.
My assumption is sometime down the road, they will come up with a grandfathering or freeze and call it a win. I think Ottawa is smart enough to realize that any more money spent on this issue will their financial and political deficit. Trudeau might be silly enough to go down that rabbit hole, but I don’t see that in Carney.
