Unfortunately we're in the good guys/bad guys era of politics, so opinions automatically equal beliefs 🤷♂️
I'm also right there with you fella, Carney doesn't need Quebec's votes until April of 2029. IMO he doesn't need the political capital from kicking the horse corpse of gun control; if anything, he knows it's unpopular and flawed, and doesn't want to keep it in the limelight.
We'll all see what happens, together, as a community... but the current government can kick whatever they want down the road. At least until 2029 I guess.
I agree. I understand the widespreaded frustration inside this community but I firmly believe gun control policy in Canada has been a political stunt, at least very much so for the recent years.
People oftentimes think libs benefits from it and they are right, libs do but also got backfired sometimes. The recent failure of buy back program has shown them the public is no longer willing to squander money on political right but expensive and useless programs. Carney, a pragmatic politician running heavily on economic platforms should realize the very little return he’s getting back from it.
I personally won’t be so optimistic to assume we are safe till 29. I believe once there is enough chips on the table, most likely a economic recovery, they will call election right away to solve the “ undemocratic majority “ issue .
But for now, I don’t see another major gun seizing movement in at least 12 months.
