Some fun facts from the video:

  • These guns are not suitable for hunting

  • Grandfathered AKs are floating around

  • A massive gang shootout happens in Toronto involving unlicensed criminals using smuggled US firearms...so the obvious solution is to confiscate property from vetted, law-abiding PAL holders.

  • These guns are used in school shootings, banning them will prevent them from being used in school shootings because we say so

  • Legally owned handguns are "frequently diverted to illegal markets" despite police forces openly admitting that the vast majority of crime guns are black market imports smuggled across the border.

Seems like the goal is to frame highly regulated, background checked (daily) citizens as the main threat to public safety. Good on the host for asking questions and pushing the failure angle but too bad he wasn't ready with actual statistics and facts to call out the obvious BS.

Ugh I watched this when it aired. Just awful! The only reason I give TVO a pass on this is because they had our side on a couple months ago and didn’t push the governments narrative on the guests. They ask questions and listened to what they had to say.

I'll have to watch their counterpart video, didn't know they had done that.
