I bought my 1941 Lithgow No.1 Mk.3 SMLE for $1300 in 2022, Absolutely crazy!

I bought the same model for the same price last year. Guess value hasn’t gone up much.

10 years ago I was seeing no4s and mkIIIs go for $800-$1000 at gun shows depending on condition and matching numbers. Usually RCMP and RCAF issued no4 rifles would be the premium ones and go for $1200+ from what I remember. The no4(t)s were another story tho lol. Didn’t pay enough attention to sporters to remember their pricing.

Similar, my 45 lithgow was about 1k with bayonet and shit but not these clowns want the moon and stars

Ya gunpost doesnt even make sense. I sold 2 guns on there with like 40% off retail cause they were slightly used. Which is what it should be. People are selling shit they just bought for the same price if not more.

4k for an Enfield? Unissued or not, thats steep. I guess if someone wants to pay for it 🤷♂️

Gunpost has gotten unhinged. I see tons of crap that’s listed at or above the price brand new.

u/LeeFrann May 13 '26
If it's unissued condition ya... We paying 1200 for rifle dragged through the mud and back.
Unissued is the best possible condition for an old surp rifle. Representative of what a GI would have been handed the start of a conflict.

u/LordRevan1996 May 13 '26
Even that seems pricy for an unissued rifle. Maybe if it was in a wrap and more likely to be verified as unissued.

There’s a dude making YouTube Videos about overpriced shit and his “low ball” offers. I don’t have the patience to do it myself but he’s doing gods work

Yeah, all his items are overpriced, and he changes the prices every week. It makes me wonder if he even wants to sell them.

This guy knows. He had a Swedish Mauser up for sale that was one of the few Mauser Oberndorf manufactured in Germany with Swedish steel, at one point he had it up for $950 CAD only to change it to $1300 then later $2500 and some sucker bought it.

What's hilarious is that should he pass away his wife/family would probably let it go for like $200 during his estate sale lol

$750 for the rifle and ammo is a great deal. They normally go for 600-700 at LGSs.

I don't understand these posts . If you think its over priced, go buy one in your price range.
Why all the hate? Free market means you can ask what ever you want, and the buyer can offer to pay what ever they want.
Im certainly not paying that much for an old 303. But if someone does, then clearly they thought it was worth it

Because a society shouldn’t tolerate insanity, eventually it gets normalized

I have a theory that this is primarily driven by old guys whose wives are nagging them to “sell some of that junk you don’t even use” and so they just list it for sale with completely unreasonable prices.
If it sells for 3x what it’s worth, then they’re fine with that. If it (more likely) doesn’t sell, they get to tell their wives “I listed it, but nobody was buying” and then keep it. Same goes for guys at gun shows who are completely out to lunch on prices. For them, I think it’s socializing and getting their wives off their backs.
