Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Made a second comment as I watched the video. 6:00. Not a single source cited or even referenced. Just general vibes and trust me bros. Policing capacity and enforcing the ban after October... Holy shit. So bro in one half of his mouth is saying "There is more important shit to do." Then goes on to say bullshit out the other. Also Wendy is straight up lying with the "Most are restricted firearms." Yea no Wendy. That MIGHT have been true back in just the 2020 OIC bans but not now. But go on. Keep lying. I don't except much from you. Also like straight up ignoring Sask and what they have done and Alberta. 12:00. The fact bro thinks this is going to be a front burner issue is actually unhinged. MAYBE for restricted as that's low hanging fruit but non restricteds? The amount of work that is required in getting a non restricted is insane. You would have to. 1. Pick a license holder you don't like that much. 2. Ask for all the reference numbers to the stores they bought guns from. 3. Ask for the records of what guns they bought. 4. If you find one of the prohibited guns now you have to see if there is a chance they sold it so you have to check there firearm transfer history and discuss it with them. It's such a large amount of work and so much boring paper work for such little return you would have to be a real fucking hater to go and do all that... Which I would not be surprised if some cops are willing to do that but I am banking on the fact most cops hate having to do paper work.

Wendy Cuckier going on after about issues related to youth firearm suicide really fucking cracked me up as how does a house being 'full of firearms' make a difference when it comes to firearm by suicide? Last I checked when people do the deed with a firearm they use one. So it doesn't matter if someone has only as single shot break action shotgun or a gun collection 1,000+ guns big. The intimidate partner violence she talks about later is extra insulting as she straight up admits issues with enforcing the laws already in the books. So maybe spend some resources and money enforcing them? Like she can talk big talk now about wanting to deal with the 'root cause' issues but she has had such a history of bad faith nobody believes her. Most certainly not any meaningful stake holder.

Also going back to the cop saying "We really need to build those bridges with gun owners as cops." Is hilarious. Buddy you burned that bridge and now your trying to put out the ashes with piss.

Also the end bit with them asking "What does success look like to you." So one of Wendy's arguments here is "Okay let's look at the crime stats like the homicide rate." Okay Wendy so in five years if the homicide rate does not go down will you consider this project a failure or will you just double down? Oh wait your a career lobbyist so double down. Also again with the suicide comments. How does any of these bans lower suicide? Like that is the thing that probably disgusts me most about this argument. Them pretending to care about suicide. None of these bans do anything to lower gun suicide. Shit gun suicide should not even matter. Overall suicide is what's important. The final thing she said around "Well political extremism and firearms!" Is extra funny. Extremists don't give one shit about what the gun laws are. If someone is willing to carry out a violent attack they don't care if it's illegal for them to buy a glock with a auto switch from a gun smuggler or make a homemade gun themselves. Shit as far as mass killings go in Canada vehicle attacks seem to be a lot more popular and either almost as, just as or even more deadly then mass shootings.

I have to say the cops ending bit made me really fucking laugh. "Really be more decent to, one another." But when it's the government saying that people should be criminalized then you should be as hateful as possible.

Didn't watch the rest as the focal point of this was Wendy and the cop. Tldr? As other people have said this is straight up a propaganda piece. Lot of "Trust me bros." Lot of straight up lies and a lot of fear mongering.
