Milsurps / Prohib Deactivated firearms?

Since so much has been banned I wanted to try something new and ask y'all about dewats. Anyone own them? Or hate them? I can imagine we might get a lot of dewat AR's come october of this year (since they were originally registered). Better that than handed in.

Just curious what r/canadaguns thinks about that category of "non-firearms" in general.

Outside of sentimental value, there's very little reason to create or buy a dewat when Airsoft guns are available.

Airsoft build quality has improved massively in the last 10 years. They make for excellent wall hangers that unlike dewats can actually be pulled down and used to have tons of fun with from time to time at airsoft events.

I sometimes bring airsoft guns to the range to zero them for upcoming games and the look they get from other shooters who see them on the gun rack is priceless.

I don’t disagree, would rather it not happen but of course it still has value
