Got my 22 exemption recently and had the joy of picking up this puppy in the mail. Any pointers for someone new to pistol shooting?

No story, just joined the bctsa and they issued me a letter for it, can give more in depth description if you’re also from bc

The procedure I followed goes as follows. 1.) Join the Bctsa (sfc if you’re from out of bc, some other provinces may require you attend matches before they issue you an exemption, I’m unsure) 2.)fill out the exemption letter request form detailing your circumstances and which handgun you want and the calibre ( a coach needs to sign for non 22s) 3.)Wait for them to email you the exemption letter. 4.) find a gun to buy and email the exemption letter to the cfo prior to initiating the transfer 5.) wait for a bit and boom. Wasn’t a crazy complex process but I guess it hasn’t really been outlined much here before. Any other questions feel free to ask

I am also part of the bctsa how many practices and matches did you attend before applying for your exemption?

Didn’t attend any, you just need to be wishing to train, there’s a section on their website with a pre formatted exemption letter request and you just need to check if the “is training for” box

I’m from BC….. would love guidance how to get an exemption for .22 (I have a couple 9mms and shoot IPSC) if you have an exemption I’d 100% recommend getting into IPSC, it’s so great and we need anyone and everyone that has the handguns otherwise it’s gonna be a dead sport in our nation over time

I’ve always wanted to but live in the middle of nowhere, the nearest range that does ispc is probably a few hours away into Alberta lol. Can pm you later for instructions when I’m free if you remind me tonight

I’m still only 40min from my range…. But after being 10min away I definitely don’t go to the range as much anymore….. I honestly mostly run dry fire drills in my basement and have targets pasted on my walls

A couple guys I usually try to squad with (due to being GMs in my class and being super helpful) drive to the lower mainland from the interior in their rvs for all the matches

Super expensive but soooo fun.

Is the hardest part finding one to buy? Are there still stores that have supply on hand?

Yeah finding one to buy is a pain, looking on gunpost you can post a classified looking for it and get bombarded by scammers and the odd person who actually wants to sell. I got mine from crafm but I think it was the last one and they only have browning buckmarks now. Can always import from irunguns too

Import from the USA IRunGuns. There are many available. Don't buy used Canadian junk. Glock, FN whatever you desire. Endless Ruger varieties.

Well that's because essentially every sub is comprised of people too scared to leave massive cities and actually somehow enjoy living in the most polution centric areas. And those kinda of people who love the worst least natural things typically vote NDP and probably are fuled solely off anger and spite

I checked the is training for box, put nothing in the coach or competition feilds. You should send the president or vice president an email to follow up. That’s what I did when my membership application was pending review and they took care of it in a day
