People can be annoyed with me if they want but I don’t really get the wisdom of posting this.

An SKS is currently allowed to get through the admittedly inconsistent regulatory framework in Canada because it is a hunting rifle with a history in this country. In response people:

  • make it look as much like the vilified “assault-style” rifles that get banned
  • exploit a magazine loophole that obviously lets people workaround the intent of mag limits
  • post videos of mag dumping 10 rounds in a manner that 100% has nothing to do with hunting and very obviously mimics exactly the kind of thing Poly is trying to outlaw.

I get it. People should be able to own what they want as long as they are using it safely. But this is the type of video that will push regulators even harder to close the loopholes allowing a 10 shot, semiautomatic centrefire rifle to legally exist in Canada.

Most gun crimes are not committed by lawful citizens so why punish those that aren't responsible for said crimes?

I’m not punishing anyone. Just trying to be strategic about things that could influence increased overreach. If you don’t think videos like this energize the anti-gun crowd, I guess we agree to disagree.

The anti-gun crowd is energized by the mere existence of lawful private gun ownership in Canada. Maybe we should all voluntarily surrender our guns to appease them too? That'll get them off our backs.
