People can be annoyed with me if they want but I don’t really get the wisdom of posting this.

An SKS is currently allowed to get through the admittedly inconsistent regulatory framework in Canada because it is a hunting rifle with a history in this country. In response people:

  • make it look as much like the vilified “assault-style” rifles that get banned
  • exploit a magazine loophole that obviously lets people workaround the intent of mag limits
  • post videos of mag dumping 10 rounds in a manner that 100% has nothing to do with hunting and very obviously mimics exactly the kind of thing Poly is trying to outlaw.

I get it. People should be able to own what they want as long as they are using it safely. But this is the type of video that will push regulators even harder to close the loopholes allowing a 10 shot, semiautomatic centrefire rifle to legally exist in Canada.

We are policed to an unreasonable level, and your mad that we aren't policing ourselves even harder, so that the people unreasonably policing us don't become more unreasonable. There is no benefit to trying to appease lawmakers or polititians who already adamantly hate us; and the evidence of this is that the next time they talk about us on the news they will most certainly have a full auto AR on screen while they do it, (not OP's 10 round SKS) I would argue that as they are trying to unfairly shape the image and nature of firearms ownership in a way that benefits their agenda, it is even more important for the individual to assert their own freedom to do with their own property as they wish. Everything OP is doing in this video is safe, and legal, therefor he is in the right to do it and post it.

Yes, he has the right to do it and post it. My point is that posting this kind of video may lead to the elimination of that right.

Then they've already won.
