People can be annoyed with me if they want but I don’t really get the wisdom of posting this.

An SKS is currently allowed to get through the admittedly inconsistent regulatory framework in Canada because it is a hunting rifle with a history in this country. In response people:

  • make it look as much like the vilified “assault-style” rifles that get banned
  • exploit a magazine loophole that obviously lets people workaround the intent of mag limits
  • post videos of mag dumping 10 rounds in a manner that 100% has nothing to do with hunting and very obviously mimics exactly the kind of thing Poly is trying to outlaw.

I get it. People should be able to own what they want as long as they are using it safely. But this is the type of video that will push regulators even harder to close the loopholes allowing a 10 shot, semiautomatic centrefire rifle to legally exist in Canada.

it’s too late for this argument lol, The only thing keeping the sks from being banned is the sheer amount of people who own one. Also the sks is not a hunting rifle, it was designed for war. which makes the whole deal even more laughable

Designed for war yes. But its most certainly also a great hunting rifle. The Jet engine was designed for war..... but alas look at what it's mainly used for today.

Definitely a solid hunting rifle, I typically strive to have a 4-6 moa rifle for hunting lol
