Misc [Megathread] Makasi MK-15

This will be the place where all Makasi related discussion will be concentrated (until the rifle starts getting into peoples hands). We’re seeing a lot of repeated posts, hype, and speculation on sub right now and we want to try to keep it from drowning out the rest of the content you good folks are making.

We expect to remove this megathread once the rifle actually gets into people’s hands and gets some actual canadian reviews. In the meantime feel free to speculate, discuss your purchase/preorder or otherwise in this thread.

For anyone saying they can’t risk buying it because it might get banned, my reply is tough cookies.

Money comes and goes, but getting your hands on a quality semi 223 that’s NR is now worth its weight in gold. It in effect becomes priceless since money can never buy it. I don’t care it’s going to get banned, it’s NR and it’ll be mine forever!

This is my thoughts exactly. Especially with the devaluation of our dollars will only continue to get worse. If the government wants to ban it then i wanna own it

This is my secondary belief as well, as crime runs rampant, our economy continues to shrink and deteriorate and food becoming prohibitively expensive. I’m thinking lead will become more valuable than gold if you know what I mean. Especially since the CAD is becoming more worthless by the day 👀

We're obviously a hybrid gun store/pawnshop and when i get asked by the "prepper" types that are only stacking precious metals if we have any maples (we dont cause theres a run on them) they always give me a funny look when i ask if theyre investing in brass and lead at all lol

Yup exactly. Not to mention the squeeze on oil right now will continue to drive prices for everything especially food production. Leading to ..... drum roll Higher cost of living

A lot of good Canadians will become criminals overnight when they wake up on Oct. 31st.

u/Cytoxin Apr 26 '26

That’s fine. Criminals get treated a lot better than citizens here in Canada!

Wrong type of criminals , unfortunately.  The government cant use us as a weapon against the common citizen so we will be facing the full force of the state.

Absolutely!

You can always make more money, but you cant always buy a certain firearm

So I’m guessing you got your PAL after the bans? There are people already in that boat.

u/rastamasta45 Apr 26 '26

You asking me? Because no I’m a pre ban pal holder

So don’t you already have a bunch of banned NR rifles that you already get to hold onto for life? Why would you want another?

I already have two safe queens I can never use again.

It can’t be priceless if it’s available at MSRP

I can’t confirm any that I own, but I can say it’s never enough and I don’t like being told by the LPC what to do

exactly !

Realistically what value does another safe queen get you though?

If your plan is to risk the rest of your collection to go shoot it illegally in the woods (which is a very stupid idea) then you might as well go all the way and break the law some more by getting a better one on the street.

If your plan is to wait for a Conservative government, then why not just buy it or a similar model once they roll back Trudeau's bans?

If your plan is insurance for an apocalypse scenario then an SKS is fine.

I really just have a hard time understanding the appeal here.

There’s so many reasons.

  1. Firearms are my passion, my hobby and my collection. To own them brings me joy, even if they’re banned.

  2. Spare firearms for the apocalypse is always a necessity for myself and everyone I love. 1 is none and 2 is one as the saying goes.

  3. I’m a law abiding citizen and I did nothing wrong. There’s a big difference with going into a forest and shooting illegally or purchasing a black market firearm and just saying “ I will hold my legally obtained property until further notice”. I will not commit a crime before or after October, I bought them legally and that will remain as such.

  4. Should we have a friendly government in the future, the run on guns will be biblical. Every price will be hiked, everything will be sold out. The best and cheapest time to buy a gun is always today, never tomorrow.

  5. Because I want it….

Edit: I should add you mentioned the SKS as the apocalypse insurance policy. If it’s all you have it’s good enough, however it’s woefully outdated and obsolete (downvote me but it’s true) a modern 223 taking STAMAGs is the only option. When you’re playing with your life you want every advantage, not disadvantage.

Fair enough on the other points, although I don't see it the same way.

But on the apocalypse point, I said the SKS was fine because it's cheap and works well enough as a last resort option. It's extremely unlikely that you'd actually get into a gunfight where a more modern semi is going to make the difference between living and dying. And even if you do, a guy who's skilled with an SKS will run circles around someone who keeps his Makasi in a safe all the time and can't train with it. So in my view if you're legitimately worried about that then $2400 is much better spent on water filtration, food stockpiling, a solar array, etc.

At the end of the day it's your money, but for me I don't see the appeal.

Apocalypse ok. Do you put as much effort into apocalypse prep with regards to food and water, gasoline and power generation as much as you do building your Rambo arsenal?

I think the apocalypse is going to be a lot less Hollywood drama as you think. You probably have 10,000 rounds of 5.56 that you think you will be slaying hordes with from your basement window.

Good luck John Rambo
