Misc [Megathread] Makasi MK-15

This will be the place where all Makasi related discussion will be concentrated (until the rifle starts getting into peoples hands). We’re seeing a lot of repeated posts, hype, and speculation on sub right now and we want to try to keep it from drowning out the rest of the content you good folks are making.

We expect to remove this megathread once the rifle actually gets into people’s hands and gets some actual canadian reviews. In the meantime feel free to speculate, discuss your purchase/preorder or otherwise in this thread.

I hope this rifle actually makes it into the hands of Canadians - and they at least get some time with it. It makes sense if you didn’t get a b&t, x95, or a Bren before the bans… might be a lot of people’s last chance to get a quality semi in 5.56 for a while.

Edit: uh oh - may have spoke too soon. Chat is this another WK180 situation?

IRG has some R ones that are coming soon, I hope that gets into the hands of some people fast and we can get some canadian reviews.

Price looks to be the same for the R as the Pre-Order NR..

Newbie here - how do we know it's going to be a quality rifle? Does the manufacturer have a good track record?

I saw comments in another thread that it's already sold in the USA, and has had good reviews.

this rifle has been around for a while. it's not new. Just been shadowed in the American markets and until recently being approved for Canadian markets somehow. From the 100s of videos I have watched over reviews, it looks good and solid, and a lot of fun.

Yeah that's where I'm at. Most americans have never heard of it which doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

Most Americans also have access to a huge selection of AR-15s and other semi auto rifles. The market and variety is huge, whereas our market/variety is very very limited

They can get a quality rifle for $500 lol. This would be a niche market in the USA

You can buy an AR for $400 down there and there will be parts made for it for the next century.

From what I’ve seen 2 months later the RCMP has classified it as non-restricted, so I can see it sticking around for a while, plus there’s always manufacturers wanting to expand their market.

Any updates on it recently?

Nope, still 100% legal to buy and own

Can’t get my hands on one tho

Yeah it’s kind of a gamble, since it’s really popular and one of the only cool tactical looking guns left that’s still legal in the country, everyone wants one. Really the only thing you can do is wait for more to come back in stock.
