Makasi 100%, buy the backland hunter if u wanna pay 2k for some scrap metal

12

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Is that bad? I was going by the “Code of Arms” review on YouTube.

39

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn Apr 25 '26

Yeah, theyre also notorious for ghosting if things go sideways

5

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Damn, it’s a good-looking rifle. That’s sad.

13

u/DougMacRay617 Apr 25 '26

Perfect example of a wrong opinion

33

u/alexorange178 Apr 25 '26

Code of arms is just a channel full of paid sponsorships that they call “reviews”. Take anything they say with the biggest grain of salt.

10

u/thecoolernameistaken Apr 25 '26

Code of arms is ass. Disgusting people for just praising anything they get paid to shill

0

u/AssignmentPutrid3197 Apr 25 '26

Makasi will end up banned in a year

11

u/Loud_Cap_4250 Apr 25 '26

Any gun can end up banned in a year what’s your point

54

u/CurlyWurly61 Apr 25 '26

I vote: take it easy.

Get a shotgun, get a bolt action, get a semi auto

Ammo. Optics. Bags/Bipods. Ammo. Targets. Cleaning kits. Storage. Did I say Ammo?

19

u/CurlyWurly61 Apr 25 '26

May I suggest dropping the ruger and getting either a Tikka T3x Super Varmint or a Bergara.

Also, the backlands hunter? Drop it

1

u/Sir_Larpsalot2 Apr 25 '26

Agreed. The Ruger looks cool but get some form of Tikka T3X. If you like that look, go for the Ace Target.

1

u/OrbitalDrop7 Apr 25 '26

Only issue with the tikka is that its always out of stock lol

82

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn Apr 25 '26

If you got this kinda scratch dump the canuck and the crusader and get a benelli m4

21

u/MourningWood1942 Apr 25 '26

Yeah this

Skip the backland hunter completely you will have enough for a Benelli m4

8

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Not a bad idea. For some reason, I was prioritizing quantity over quality.

19

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn Apr 25 '26

Also i see your shopping at rdsc, if your localish to the stony plain area, check us out. (We carry all the same things that you have on here. We've got a handful of mk-15 spots left as well.) Edit: also as with most things buy once cry once is best :)

1

u/Mammoth_Attention_59 Apr 25 '26

What’s your guys expected date for the makasi? I saw some folks are getting through north sylva

3

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn Apr 25 '26

July/August. I havent seen anything from North Sylva yet, but wouldnt surprise me if they backed the money truck up to get some too after gravel did the leg work lol

1

u/FrozenReesesPieces Apr 25 '26

Do you guys charge full price for a spot on the makasi? Or what is the retaining fee?

1

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn Apr 25 '26

We're just doing half down to be safe incase of oic

3

u/CurlyWurly61 Apr 25 '26

I know the excitement too well 🤣🤝

3

u/FD4L Apr 25 '26

"Buy once, cry once" is a much better mantra when it comes to controlled explosions next to your head.

1

u/snakeleather45 Apr 25 '26

This is very common when first entering the market. Go slow, see what you like, and quality over quantity.

0

u/No-Night-48 Apr 25 '26

Can't agree with this regarding the Operator. I've been around firearms close to 40 years, and my Operator has been flawless. Everyone I've ever met who have shot or own has nothing but praise for them and their capabilities. I've fired garbage rounds and this gun eats them at the range while running drills. Save yourself thousands and buy one. Best advice, always check numerous reviews. Where a gun is made doesn't dictate its capabilities. My Retay Masai Mara floors the boys who own shotguns in the tens of thousands.

13

u/Aggravating-Treat190 Apr 25 '26

Since money doesn’t seem to be an issue I would lean more towards lower quantity higher quality when I got my pal my first purchases were beretta a400xcel, tika t3x tac, beretta silver pigeon, volksquarten 10/22, and the wk180 gen 2. Not very tactical but i know that they will all last me a life time and my children’s life time and they will be heirlooms my next purchase will probably be a henry or a marlin

3

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

This is good advice.

5

u/Aggravating-Treat190 Apr 25 '26

Yeah man all the stupid canadian loophole/gimmick guns are just novelty tacticool turkish abominations filling a void created by recent gun laws they sadly arent built to last or perform to theyre price point as cool as they are, I would stick to the good brands

11

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

Quality over quantity man. Skip the backland hunter. Never heard anything positive about it.

4

u/Vikare_ Apr 25 '26

I've heard a lot of bad things about crusader arms. Not a company I'd ever want to support.

10

u/xpingux Apr 25 '26

And not a word about ammo... Tsk tsk.

Buy a gun or two and then buy several thousand rounds. Get better at shooting and cleaning your gun, then expand.

Or buy 12 guns, shoot none of them and move onto another hobby while they sit in your safe.

7

u/MindYaBiznessMmk Apr 25 '26
  1. Friends don’t let friends buy Turkshit.
  2. Ignore the idiots defending Turkshit.
  3. When it comes to shotguns, buy Italian.

4

u/Weak-Coffee-8538 Apr 25 '26

Mk-15 and Beretta 1301

4

u/hippz Apr 25 '26

I'd personally go for a 1301 Tactical over the KSG, but that's just me.

1

u/Bots_R_Us Apr 25 '26

Not just you, this is definitely the way

7

u/Jazzlike_Finish123 Apr 25 '26

You wanna buy all of them? Fuck it, if you got the money get em all just make sure you got enough for ammo.

2

u/Confident-Ad9628 Apr 25 '26

And enough for optics and other attachments

6

u/HALF-PRICE_ Apr 25 '26

Amateurs plan ahead. The REAL ones push through! What does your SKS NOT have a bayonet?

8

u/Automatic-Height4246 Apr 25 '26

Makasi, mra, ksg, or dont forget sks

2

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Not a fan of the SKS design. I dont know why.

8

u/Armox Apr 25 '26

How dare you disparage the SKS

-1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

I know!! haha, but to be fair, it’s an ugly rifle. People only get those because we can’t have other semi-autos — haha, but that’s just my opinion.

2

u/2feetandathrowaway Apr 25 '26

There's lots of aftermarket stocks for the SKS if you don't like the wood

-1

u/Automatic-Height4246 Apr 25 '26

Get ati sks, they are either new parts and replacements, including aftermarket stock and reciever and everythjng is aftermarket, or they are occasionally old guns with new stocks, but overall they are tactical semi with alot of modularity and has a ton of modification potential. Or u can get makasi or backland hunter if u dont want ati either

3

u/honest_perseverance Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 25 '26

Quality over quantity like the others have said.

Take it easy and think about what your intended purpose for each type of firearm will be. That will influence your decisions.

I personally wanted to get into 3gun so I choose the Beretta 1301 for reliability and aftermarket support - can’t go wrong with an Italian classic!

If you’re mainly shooting at the range then weight will be less of a factor, but if you are out in crown land or hunting, that’s something to consider.

Yup black friday is amazing for guns, every black friday lately I get one

1

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

Hoping someone's got the henry supreme on sale for thay day haha

2

u/Iokua_CDN Apr 25 '26

Be pretty sweet! You thinking 223 or 300 ac for it?

1

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

.223 for sure. Ive got.... lots lol.

2

u/Iokua_CDN Apr 25 '26

I looked up the price out of curiosity.

Best was like $1750. Ouch!!  I hope they do a black friday sale too, all lever action prices hurtl lately. I regret never buying the $300 henry 22 I saw back when I first got my Pal

1

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

All fun rifles these days cost an arm and a leg haha.

For me right now. It's the supreme and the homesteader catching my eye. Which ever one goes on sale is getting a new home lol.

Love my .22s as well, a lever one would be awesome for sure.

2

u/Iokua_CDN Apr 25 '26

I've been eying up the Homesteader too honestly. I know it's pretty much the only 9mm semi right  now, but I also dig the look of it. Liked the look better than the ruger 9mm rifle

1

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

Those ruger PCCs had some absolutely wild aftermarket support though. Could pretty much turn em into anything, if they were legal, id 100% have one haha

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 25 '26

Yeah, I think that with the tacticool design, the straight-pull is the safest choice from a ban perspective.

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Because part of me wants to believe they’ll never take them away, but also because I’m a bit of a retard. As for pump-action, I was considering the Crusader Arms PND rifle in .223 Rem/5.56 NATO. Wyt?

1

u/TheBulletBuddy Apr 25 '26

PND was a border line scam. Dont even consider it. Crusader arms these days is garbage.

If looking at pump, taipan or troy par is the way to go. They got it figured out.

I do love my 12.5 inch barrel Renegade though. It's a blast.

2

u/Murray3-Dvideos Apr 25 '26

If I was in your shoes I'd go with either the Renegade in .223 Wylde. Or the MK-15 depending on how worried you are about potentially having a 2.5k tied up in a paper weight.

Owning and becoming skilled with the use of a good semi auto .223 is certainly something every gun owner should experience in their life. They are a fairly diverse gun to own. You can hunt varmints (and debatably deer) with it. Shoot fast paced run and gun competitions, service rifle competitions and plink out to 700yrds.

Going with the Renegade will still provide you with the same capabilities and shooting styles.... just at 10-50% of the speed of you would with the Mk-15.

2

u/DougMacRay617 Apr 25 '26

80% of this list is junk here is a tried and true list

  1. Makasi mk15

2.mossberg 590

3.tikka t3x ctr or varmit/ bergara

4.beretta 1301

2 & #4 can be swapped if you so desire. The rest of the guns on that list with the exception of the ruger are all dog shit wastes of money.

0

u/ivanlarav Jun 03 '26

Is the Mossberg 590R the same as the 590? I kind of like the look of the 590R more, and the $999.99 price tag looks very appealing. It’s crazy that the Turkish Canuck is the same price. I know it’s a semi-auto, but still.

2

u/Spydude84 Apr 25 '26

The MAKASI is what everyone wants right now. Skip the straight pull and backland hunter.

Don't buy either of those shotguns imo. If you want a tactical shotgun and want a pump, either buy a Mossberg 590 or a Remington 870, or if you want semi-auto buy an Italian, either a Beretta A300 Tactical, Beretta 1301, or a Benelli M4.

I don't know enough about precision rifles to say anything about the Ruger. What I can say is that you should also probably look at getting some sort of .22lr gun too, and maybe a longer barrel shotgun for clays if they have clays where you live, either a quality O/U or an A300/A400.

2

u/AlgaeGrazers Apr 25 '26

Yeah don't forget optics, attachments, and ammo. Would be silly to drop 2k on a gun and get a cheap optic. If you got the money do it and get good optics and ammo.

2

u/2feetandathrowaway Apr 25 '26

Personally is to with the KS7 over the KSG, the extra magazine seems cool, but the more moving parts, the more things can go wrong.

Also consider the Mossberg 590A1 or a Remington 870, can't go wrong with either of those for pumps. For semi, M4 or 1301 are both great options.

I would hold off on a renegade to see if the Makasi makes it to market, and I'd totally skip the backhand hunter. Consider an SKS for a semi, and if you want a PCC, all that's left is the Henry Homesteader.

Also don't forget a .22, the ammo is piss cheap and there's lots of fun ones to plink with.

If you want a long range, I've heard the RPR are ooverpriced for what you get. Look at a Bergara B14 or anything by Seekins

2

u/Daedalus-N7 Apr 25 '26

The crusader ain't worth a wet napkin so you might as well delete that off your list. Unless you want to pay that price for something that will fail immediately

2

u/roninmori 🇦🇺 Apr 25 '26

I say full send

2

u/ConnectAd5999 Apr 26 '26

Remember when you could get a x95 or an actually rifle.

2

u/ZezimaMustang Apr 26 '26

Just buy quality. Stay away from the garbage clones and Turkish garbage.

2

u/Whispersfine Apr 25 '26

Take it easy, I won’t buy Canuck and KSG.

If you can afford, why don’t buy M4.

KSG is very unpleasant to shoot.

It’s better to have 3 guns you love to shoot and practice than having 10 “cool” guns but only shoot 2 of them twice a year.

1

u/ivanlarav Jun 03 '26

You were right, very unpleasant the KSG, cool, but the recoil is insane.

2

u/PlanetGuardian-42 Apr 25 '26

Buying these all at once is kinda manic tbh.

Wait a year between each type. You'll probably change your mind about what you want. And if you wait, you'll find better prices as things go on sale.

2

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

This is good advice, but my man, one year between types? There are no guarantees in this life — who knows if we’ll be here in two years, right? If I change my mind, I can always just buy more haha.

1

u/PlanetGuardian-42 Apr 25 '26

I mean, maybe somewhere in the middle? But who am I to tell someone what to do! Just seems kinda wild to me haha.

Edit: but definitely dont buy a Turkish semi. You'll regret it.

1

u/BaldCobraChicken Apr 25 '26

I would not rush into this purchase at these prices. I’ve heard that you can put down a refundable deposit for the Makasi, at some places. There’s lots of good advice here.

1

u/Mr_Nuclear1 Apr 25 '26

If you got the money for both the Canuck and the 6.5, just buy a Benelli M4.

Benelli M4 SKS (French tickler preferably) 10/22 or 597 or some other 22lr plinker

Makasi, but there’s a high chance that gets banned by OIC… unfortunately

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

I don’t know why, but I can’t convince myself to spend $3K on a shotgun. I don’t mind doing it for a nice bolt-action, but for a shotgun?

1

u/Mr_Nuclear1 Apr 25 '26

Buy once cry once, this applies to everything but this especially

1

u/alexorange178 Apr 25 '26

My man I get the excitement, but I’d recommend going to a local gun shop and get a basic but good quality 22LR rifle. Nothing against RDSC but having a good local shop to help you get started is very valuable.

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Totally — in fact, I’m not buying from RDSC. I just wanted to build a cart with the items I want, and for some reason they had all of them, and the website is easy to use. But I’ll definitely try to buy local in NB, and I’ll be looking for deals when the time comes.

I have two .22 options in mind: the Derya TM22 Pro and the Adler RF224. They’re so cheap that when the time comes, I’ll probably buy both. I really like the design of the Adler, but it doesn’t get much love here.

1

u/alexorange178 Apr 25 '26

I’d recommend neither of them. Get a Ruger 10/22 or a bolt action such as Savage mark 2. If you have to choose between tm22 and rf224, get the tm22.

1

u/Canadian-AML-Guy Apr 25 '26

Go for quality over quantity. Ditch the canuck and backland and go for a beretta 1301 or a legit beneli m4.

1

u/JohnnyCanuck133 Apr 25 '26

Drop the Kel-Tec and Canuck and get a proper Benelli M4 instead.

1

u/Flat-Dark-Earth Big Bore Specialist Apr 25 '26

Grab the Makasi, every PAL holder needs to experience atleast 1 safe queen.

1

u/Frosty-Reporter7518 Apr 25 '26

If you got the funds buy as many as possible as soon as possible

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '26

if you’re going to spend $2800 on a bolt action in 6.5 creedmoor, get a sako, springfield 2020 waypoint, tikka, or benelli lupo. I have a tikka t3x roughtech ember 24.3 inch ss cold hammer forged with brake $1800

1

u/Spyrothedragon9972 Apr 25 '26

Just buy from reputable manufacturers. Dump all of the Turkish stuff.

1

u/Horror-Land-8959 Apr 25 '26

Ur not lookin for advice. Ur lookin to spend. Do it

1

u/Birdybadass Apr 25 '26

I bought 5 guns within a few months of getting my pal. High quality rifles - I spent in excess of $15k in total. Now that I’ve owed for years, spent a lot of time shooting, learned what I like, there’s not a single one I’d keep as there are features I’ve learned to appreciate or characteristics that drive me nuts.

I am a big proponent of buy quality, but buy slow, and learn what you like. It’s to about saving money, it’s about appreciating what you have.

1

u/Penguinbotxv Apr 25 '26

Buy either a CVA cascade LRH, bergara hmr or a ctr instead of the rpr or just do tikka target ace. Maybe a 1301, Mossberg 590a1, JM pro or stoeger 3500 instead for shotgun.

1

u/Reighzy Apr 25 '26

Honestly 80% of your list are total pieces of shit. I get the excitement but once you handle a quality firearm you'll never want to use the el cheapos again.

Purchasing firearms is cheap, it's the ammo that's the financial killer over time. I wouldn't blow your load on a bunch of guns before you even know what you enjoy shooting and are prepared to purchase ammo regularly for what you enjoy. Do you want to plink at a 25yd target at the range? 100 yd? 300 yd? How about shotguns (Clay sports - trap/skeet/five stand)?

Remember that you'll also need to buy cleaning kits and solvents, where the kits have different parts/attachments different based on calibre. A properly maintained and cleaned firearm works most reliably.

If you plan to fire at 100yds+, you'll absolutely need a scope, scope rings, bipod, shooting bag. These accessories together should cost you almost as much as the rifle you bought, if not more. And that's for each rifle.

I'd buy a good long-barreled 12ga shotgun for clay sports, a quality .22lr (semi auto or bolt), and a quality higher powered bolt-action rifle (6.5 Creedmoor, 308). That will give you a lot of variety to figure out what you enjoy doing at the range and where you like spending money on ammo. You can keep making financial decisions based on that afterwards. Your wallet will hate you for shooting the 6.5 Creedmoor or 308 with any regularity ($2-$3 per trigger pull). Don't buy a KSG, it's a plasticky hunk of shit. Also don't buy anything Turkish, you will regret it.

1

u/ShadowcastZ Apr 25 '26

Only thing good on that list is the Ruger Precision. The shotguns are Turkish crap, and crusader builds shit. Maple Ridge is decent, but more of a gimmick/cope gun. Straight pulls are kind of silly imo.

1

u/MidnightPeeler Apr 25 '26

Get a Mossberg 590A1 or a benelli m4 instead of those shotguns.

1

u/Aggressive_Leading31 Apr 25 '26

Considering only 2 of them are actually in stock I’d say you’ll have to start there

1

u/Ashs_Hitbox13 Apr 25 '26

Did you save any money for good glass on the ruger?

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

I was thinking of spending around 5K on some accessories, probably not enough?

1

u/Ashs_Hitbox13 Apr 25 '26

Now im a glass snob, but depending on what you were wanting id say go with a leupold vx3 or honestly, a steiner predator 4 is really a good scope for the money. Dont go with those Chinese brands like vector optics or discovery. Get a real name brand. Even vortex is better honestly

1

u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Apr 25 '26

Makasi, MRA Renegade, and the Canuck (or a real M4 if you’re dropping the other guns). If you got the renegade in .223 you could share cartridges between that and the Makasi. They’re both multi-cal guns as well so you could always change them if you buy additional parts.

300 BLK is a good cartridge but without a real suppressor you’d probably wouldn’t really benefit as much. I think there’s a case where you’d benefit from additional stopping power, if you’re using it as a bush gun for hunting at short to moderate distances. If it’s a range gun only, i think you’d be better off saving some money on ammunition by going .223 / 5.56.

12 gauge if some kind is a must have for a collection for sure. A bolt action is great but not sure if you need to drop the $$$ on a ruger precision. If that’s your bag you could absolutely go for it. Some kind of .22 would be great too - you could build a quality long range precision .22 bolt action rifle for less and practice that same discipline for cheaper.

1

u/Even-Somewhere-9554 Apr 25 '26

May I suggest a Benelli M4?

1

u/TheCrackerThatCould Apr 25 '26

Excuse me but how the fuck do I get your kind of money lol. I’d say take it easy and just got a bolt, shotgun and the makasi. Then branch out from there.

1

u/Hot_Motor_4655 Apr 25 '26

Dump the Turkish Canuck, the crusader, and the Maple ridge.

Get either a Benelli M4 or Beretta 1301 tactical. They're the two best shotguns on the market just pick whichever one you like better.

The makasi is a good pick.

The KSG is a cool novelty gun but it's not a serious gun to be relied upon.

If you don't have access to a long distance range consider something like a tikka t1x or a cz 457 so you can experience wind and drop at a shorter distance with 22lr.

1

u/frostedflokey Apr 25 '26

I found the Canadian distributors/vendors of Turkish and lesser known firearms terrible when it comes to promoting the firearms they sell. I ve bought some Turkish shotguns, but had to search high and low for info on them. You would think these vendors would be making videos to help buyers with their decision making. Hunt Group has some quality products.

1

u/PageAggravating4460 Apr 25 '26

That ruger you have as an option is a solid rifle with a solid platform! Great rifle but that’s just my opinion

1

u/justinoff Apr 26 '26

Makasi and chill

u/90sStevenseagal Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

2.4.5.6. Kel tec is garbage especially the ksg nothing but problems with kel tec only thing reliable they had was the sub 2000 but that thing is the worst gun to clean and banned. Crusader arms is also garbage. The canuck is of better quality than the ksg and now a reputable brand although I would reccomend the panzer m4 speed pro over the canuck. 5 is promising made in the USA with prior or present government military contracts so reliability is there although it will guaranteed be banned. Do you want the canuck 12 gauge ? Or the ruger 6.5 creedmore. Precision shooting vs cqc 12 gauge? The 12 g is the cheaper option. The ruger your looking at 6.5 ammo more expensive, more accessories bipods, scope mounts, risers, bore sighters, scope levelers different scopes ect. A entry level scope of good quality is minimum 200 or 150 on sale if your looking at bushnells, personally im a vortex guy. Lucky for you vortex released the triumph series. Which is affordable and best quality per price ratio, Precision shooting is alot more enjoyable than 12 gauge buck and slugs. Especially the 6.5 cartridge, incredibly flat shooting. Have you ever shot a high end precision rifle? If not why would you buy one as your first? If I were you I would look at savage 110, mossberg mvp, savage axis sr, tikka lite, ruger american, ranch. Mossberg, maverick 88, 500, 590, 590a1, shockwave(kinda useless) and the new semi auto aftershock should be available now. panzer m4 speed pro is the most reliable m4 clone along with canuck , beretta 1301 beretta a400, beretta brx1( straight pull bolt action) the smith and wesson M&p12 if you want a ksg that works , just to name a few.

1

u/Strong-Owl-55 Apr 26 '26

I just got my pal this year im cheap but id probably get the makasi. My set up is Bergara b14hmr carbon Ruger 10/22 Russian sks Ithaca 37 12g Winchester model 12 12g.

If I was to do it again. Nice bolt action tikka/bergara, Makasi, Derya tm22, Ithaca 37 Or panzer m4 pro

1

u/Zap-Zone Apr 27 '26

Just replace the MRA and the backland with an SKS and you're good to go

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 28 '26

I don't like the look of the SKS at all. Ugly!

1

u/Zap-Zone Apr 28 '26

Ah lame, don't be throwing shade in Canada's rifle bud.

1

u/toyz89 Apr 30 '26

That shotgun is overpriced and ugly af

Wow what a string of posts! I see in other threads you have already purchased a shotgun. However I thought you should know about True North Arms. They have some semi 12ga and 20ga built in Turkey, and then Q.A. them in Canada.

I personally have the VR-66 Barebones 12ga, its fantastic and fantasticly cheap. With a legal mag tube extension it can hold 7+1 because it has a 3.5" chamber.

But if i could do it again I would buy the VR-66 Max 12ga, it has all the bells and whistles.

This came at the right time. I’ve been looking at a semi-auto shotgun with interchangeable chokes for the last few days. I’m between getting a Beretta 1301 or an M4 Panzer Speed Pro Tac.

I know the Beretta is good quality, but price-wise, the Panzer looks like a good deal, and I’ve mostly seen good reviews out there.

I’ll take a look at the VR-66 MAX. Thank you.

I may suggest getting a surplus gun also, INTERSURPLUS has tons of amazing old stuff. Often in good shape and with original iron sights still attached. I bought an old Swedish Mauser style Husqvarna in 30-06 with a custom trigger for $580 after tax and shipping. They also have double barrel shotguns if you need one of those.

These Canucks Elites usually go for $700, I got mine for $550 on a Christmas sale. $1K is a rip off.

If you already going Turkish then get a TNA VR-66 or a Panzer they are slightly better quality, lighter and cheaper.

Thats for just the Canuck Elite.

The Elite Tac Op sells for a bit more.

The argument perhaps is the Tac Ops worth if vs a normal Turkish elite for much less? What are you getting that makes it worth an extra 200 bucks?

They come with a few extra things. Cerakote finish, mlok hand guard , over size bolt handle, over size bolt release, the loading port is milled out as well, nicer collapsible stock. Mine also came with a match saver, hand stop, and a barrel clamp with pic rails on each side. I don’t have a clue on pricing to add all that on to a regular one, I’m guessing it’s a bargain IF you’re looking to buy one or the other. If you’re not interested in any of those mods then the regular one would be fine.

I mean 1k is MAP for the canuck. They'll never be 700 on sale again either (i retail these). When canuck MAP holiday comes its a 10% discount. This is advice from like 6 years ago.

Personally,  I'd be buying a 22lr rifle for cheap trigger practice

Then? Geez man you have expensive taste. How are you affording these?

I'd skip the Ruger bolty, and instead get a Tikka 6.5 creedmoor for a grand less.

As for the KSG, I'd probably rather do the KS7 for 700 bucks. Lots of money saved, still plenty of capacity and simpler design while still being a cool bullpup pump shotgun.

Though, I'd likely go with the Makasi and skip the BacklandHunter. The Makasi has an Frt with the RCMP, so banning it requires more work from the government. The Backland hunter could be banned from any RCMP getting a hold of it and deciding it was prohibited. If you needed a cheaper option, I'd honestly just grab a Turkish 223 for cheaper. They actually have been in use longer as they be been used in Australia for a decent amount of time.  Or just get an sks for a vintage classic look.

Mapleridge straight pull, I'm not against. It's probably the cheapest and best way to get a modern looking gun with a short barrel. Any reason for 300 blackout over other calibers?  223 is going to be cheaper. 7.62 x39 is going to be cheaper. 300 blackout is sadly barely cheaper than cheap 308 ammo.

The Canuck has good warrantee here in Canada, though folks will not often like that its made in Turkey. I think it's alright. The company is good, the warranty is good and if it has a problem, they  will take care of you.

As far as dropping 10k on guns? I wouldn't do that. I space it out. But if you are rolling in money, I won't stop you. Just stay within your means and don't be going into debt for funs. Economy is rough out there.

Didn't the liberals change the rules and make it so the rcmp can alter the frt anytime they want now? And since they can drop a oic whenever they want i dont feel the Makasi is that much safer than the backwards hunters in terms of future prohibition.

1

u/Iokua_CDN Apr 25 '26

Perhaps, though I feel there is still something. To change it might be a bit of a pride thing. Why change it now when you gave it a non restricted entry  earlier? Did you make a mistake?

The pride of that might slow them to do it. Might not of course, they might not care

My man, we live in a country where you can earn whatever you want as long as you’re willing to put in the effort and the time — need a new rifle, just work overtime or get a second job haha. But seriously, I think I’m just excited and everything cool feels a bit overpriced. I hear you — I thought about the KS7, but I think I’ve decided the dual-tube magazine is better.

Yeah, skipping the Backland Hunter and going for the Makasi seems to be the consensus, so I’ll likely drop the Backland Hunter. Kind of sad because I really like the design on that one.

The reason behind the .300 Blackout is that, dumb me, I thought I might be able to use it for deer hunting?

1

u/Iokua_CDN Apr 25 '26

No that's fair,  I picked up the 7 62 x39 version of the CZ600 trail instead of 223 for the same reason. Technically 223 is now legal  for deer where i live, but it used to not be, and i wanted something  better if i went deer hunting. I will say, a compact modern bolt action is pretty fun and handy. I usually go more traditional,  but the CZ trail has me enjoying the modern design, folding stock and full length rail.

As far as the KSG, you will certainly have a unique a special shotgun out of it! Keltec makes some wild fun designs

Don't buy crusader arms, don't buy Turkish.

Crusader arms is my buy once, cry once. I'll never forget my 2k paper weight experience...

1

u/Haynous Apr 25 '26

Panzer arms m4 speed pro is good, I wouldn't spend 3+ grand on a shotgun.

1

u/ivanlarav Apr 25 '26

Right? The Benelli M4 is super cool, but it’s almost $3K, my God!

0

u/Deleter182AC Apr 25 '26

3 of them overpriced but then again I don’t know how hard are they to find

u/No_Chipmunk_2656 Apr 25 '26

Delete the backland hunter from ur memory, renegade is just a cope gun esp since u can get the new mk15 that’s coming anyways.

1

u/marston82 Apr 25 '26

lol, they’re going to ban the mk15 6-12 months after its release at best. Advising a nooby to buy it is financially irresponsible.

This guy has money to blow he doesn’t care man😂
