This is exactly what the bans are hoping to achieve.

Removing firearms by attrition. Less shops to sell them, less coming in, less convenience for gun owners.

Friction.

And less people to get interested in firearms.

Exactly.

I honestly believe they don’t ever intent on mass collection of firearms this round. They’re just whittling us down until there’s no one left.

Brother, it is extremely obvious, just look at the scene of handguns in the country. The entire point of Bill C21 was to eliminate any future firearm owners from being able to own pistols. Once all the current pistol owners are dead, there will be zero pistols in the country…

This is what they want, this has been Nathalie Provost plan since she started grifting 30 years ago. It’s always “after you ban this we’ll be happy”, but they are never satisfied, they will continue to lie to uninformed Canadians in order to gain support and money for their grift.

It’s absolutely disgusting, and it should be illegal for lobby groups to outright lie to the government in order to push their agenda.

The surprising thing I've found, is how many "liberals" (people who have voted liberal in the past, not necessarily staunch liberal supporters)... are going and getting their PAL etc now. They also have serious issues with the whole gun grab in general.

It's definitely had a different effect than they had originally anticipated.

Might be a bit of a pipe dream, but if enough liberals start seeing through this by getting their PAL and understanding the sport they’ve destroyed, perhaps somewhere down the line when Provost is long gone, there may be some hope that they become gun neutral at least. Maybe that Overton window will open up in the LPC in the future.

It definitely feels like the next election will be more conservative. Even the most recent one I feel like shifted a bit more conservative even if we didn't change parties. Which could be just coincidence, or a sign that in general what people want is changing. Maybe not fast, or all at once, but gradually changing none the less.

100%. I have no doubt that many moderate conservatives voted LPC and the firearms confiscation is a price to pay for Carney (really a red tory) as a preferred PM. It’s just really unfortunate that Carney is onside with the ideology of Provost rather than the data that shows gun control to this degree does not enhance public safety.

My area is so conservative, the last time elected an indipendant he was executed. So it's probably going to shift a bit more the other direction, but that's a bit of an outlier.

Kill the culture, watch they will come after movies and video games next.

And eventually, range closures as less people in the community to pay the membership fees, and residential areas "encroach" on range land.

Speaking as someone who's actively looking for a range membership, if they shut down that would be on them. Multi year waitlists, having to know someone for multiple years before they'll vouch you and lots of other road blocks hurts new fire arm owners from becoming a larger segment. Not everyone wants to shoot on crown land with others who may not be completely safe.

You have a multi-year waitlist for a range membership? That is crazy!

Theres 4 ranges within an hr drive that have multi year waitlists, random draws to ge invited to join and/or ranges requiring you to know someone for multiple years before they can vouch for your membership. Our indoor ranges are 25m max so rifles get old real quick. I just want a safe place to target shoot and happy to pay for it. I have multiple friends my age in the same situation.
