Fix my gun sks ejecting very dirty brass
i have a chinese sks, cosmoline all cleaned up, but when i shoot it (norinco non-corrosive) the cartridges come out all dirty with some kind of soot all over them. is that normal? otherwise it works perfectly and ive never had a jam. ive just never seen a semi auto ejecting brass so dirty before

The thin copper wash blows off from the heat and pressure of the explosion in the chamber. The cases are just cheap steel, which makes picking them up afterwards super easy at least.

I've never seen an SKS shooter pick up after themselves. Seriously, those steel cases are like gravel on the ground at the range

Our range has a wheeled magnet that you just run over the ground and grab all your steel cases. Everyone is pretty good about picking them up.

Dirty commie cartridges in a dirty commie rifle. Lolol.
Both mine are the same. Cartridges come out covered in soot. Guess it’s a feature.

Steel cases don’t seal as well as brass, so you end up getting gas leaking around it making it dirty. Also, they’re just copper plated, like a .22lr, so it’s pretty easy to scratch off the finish.

Shitty chicom surplus ammo that runs super sooty + the blow back from the steel case cartridge not sealing very well perfectly normal might raise an eyebrow if youre firing brass cases and you get the same effect though

It's special ammo that looks like it's been fired a long time ago so the enemy doesn't know they're hot on your trail

i get the same but i think it's just burning the oil i covered the bore with for storage. either that or it's gas blowby from the steel cases

Bro the ammo you are feeding it is dirty as it should be. Clean your bore and you will see how many patches it takes until they come out clean. This is normal.

It will eat it and spit it out, I had a full mag of random 7.62x39 ammo left for weeks up to months out at my range and it just went through them like nothing out of the ordinary. Don’t worry about the casings getting dirty, worry about the rifle and when you clean&treat it well it will do the same back, Well actually if you don’t treat it well it doesn’t affect the performance of the rifle anyways 🙏

It not dirty. It’s the true color of the case. These are not copper cases, it’s copper plated steel.
In other words. Copper washed steel case
