Gun and gear reviews Misleading Claims

What are some of the misleading claims that you have heard from firearm manufacturers/hunting gear brands and hunting/shooting influencers?

Wondering because I often see ads for hunting rifles or shotguns being overhyped or just in the most unrealistic of situations. Or another example would be MDT's HNT26 chassis (I'm not hating on MDT, yes I have bought products from them) but I find it just unnecessary to pay that much for a chassis to do the same job that a Tikka T3x light or a pencil barrel Mauser would do.

I want to hear your thoughts.

Two come to mind,

Girsan M9 clones: for the longest time had horrible reps from gun store guys, total dog shit blah blah. Girsan bought original tooling from beretta so they’re as close to an original you can get without the price shock. The Tisas hi power I can’t comment on where the tooling was from but they’re amazing Hi-power clones, so much so they discontinued civilian sales due to securing a military contract.

Turknelli being absolute dog shit shotguns: are they as good as Benelli probably not. Have I had a single issue with my sample size of 1, nope. Works like a charm every time and I got it for like $400 bucks. Came in a nice green too.

I’ve personally put about 10K shells through my weatherby Orion sporting while shooting clays competitively before I upgraded. The thing never said no and always went bang. I will always recommend it to someone just getting into the sport who doesn’t want to spend $2K+ on a shotgun. There are shit Turkish guns and there are great Turkish guns. Just like there are shit American guns and great American guns. Unfortunately there are only shit Canadian guns so I’m not sure why turkey gets all the hate it does lol I think it would make more sense for people to direct their energies at blasting Canadian manufacturers so that they would step up to the plate with decent products, especially since they charge American gun prices for sub par products.

Ahaha you aren't wrong about the Canadian guns. Its interesting you mentioned the orion sporting im getting into sporting clays given the lack of good options at reasonable prices the orion actually peaked my interest but i was under the impression the action was made in wyoming and the barrels were turkish. Ive handled multiple turkish & Brazilian cheap O/U like pointers, ege, boitios, churchills etc and the fit and finish alone is consistently so abysmal accross all those brands some even showing small cracks forming behind the tang (these are off the shelf unfired guns im talking about). After i seen the fractured stocks at other stores and i just couldnt take a chance on them. 10k thru the orion sounds impressive and youve peaked my interest if this is really true

The problem is they are so hit or miss.

To take a page from another community, reviews on Turkish shotguns are pretty well a "works on my machine" approval.

My operator is probably closing on 1000 rounds and ive only had a handful of malfunctions, most of which were remediated by bumping the charging handle to unstick the shell/lifter, and I have never cleaned the damn thing since I got it.

But then you hear people having catastrophic malfunctions after only a couple hundred rounds.

The fact that its "hit or miss" is exactly the fuckin point. Me and 6 friends have 1301s of varrying gen's from the first gen 2nd gen and a mod2 we are all well past 2k with some of us fast approaching 5k round count Nobodys ever ran into ammo the guns dont like or any consistent malfs. The guns just work. But people will continue to buy shit tier shotguns shoot 250 rnds a year and claim "great quality never gave me an issues"

1301 is my go to recommendation for anyone looking for a semi auto shotgun.

Really wish there was a budget semi auto i could recomend like the mav88 is for pump guns, but they just do not exist.

If I had to have only 1 shotgun, it'd be a 24 inch 1301 comp.

Hey I mean don’t get me wrong, a 1301 or M4 is infinitely better, also Turk Pump shotguns for some reason feel like airsoft, they don’t have that heft when cycling the action.

But their M4 clone I haven’t complained to much with it. It satisfied my M4 itch for a good price. My other guns already bankrupted me.
