Gun and gear reviews Leduc Canadian Tire: fight the good fight!
Because Canadian Tire is a dealer-franchise, each independent dealer has some sovereignty in how they run their individual retail location's inventory (i.e. how much of a firearms storefront they choose to run). The Leduc, Alberta location is owned by a mining engineer. And in my experience, mining engineers like firearms, hehe

We had a really nice set up in Welland Ontario. It was like a little cabin in the middle of the store. Had 4 walls.pf guns and ammo.
And then it suddenly went away and it never came back. It's been 4 or 5 years now.

I went in there after about 3 years looking for it. Asked some kid that worked there where all the guns were and he looked at me like he was about to call the cops.

The one on primeway drive is owned by the son of the CT founders. It had a massive retrofit in the last few years. I also don't think the gun community in Niagara is doing super well

They rebuilt the whole store, somehow the store foubled in size but no longer has a good gun selection.
there is a bass pro not to far though.

They are literally better than either cabelas in Edmonton. Their standard price for a ruger 10/22 was cheaper thsn that of the same model on sale at cabelas. Their ammo slecetion also is better most of the time. Leduc common canadian tire is amazing

Their ammo is still overpriced. Don't get me wrong their selection of firearms & parts is unmatched when compared to other canadian tires but there is no denying that the big box stores cannot compete with ammo prices of places like tenda and g4c

Big box stores can nae compare to smaller places in general, P&D is consistently cheaper on ammo than Cabelas and Canadian tire is. So pretty much if I want a gun I go to Canadian tire in Leduc, if I need ammo or reloading components I (unfortunately) go to P&D, I just wish P&D had better parking

Whats wrong with their parking? And why would you support canadian tire when p&d will price match. Dont get me wrong if CT has it and P&d doesnt then il buy it but i support small shops like p&d over the big box stores everytime. Even if p&d is charging an extra 10, if i can afford it i support them

It's downtown, tight, angle and paid parking, truly an annoyance to get to vs either cabelas or a canadian tire, especially during daytime or rush hour traffic, quite horrible to manouver a truck through on a regular basis. Because Canadian tires stock is larger for things that aren't hunting only rifles, if P&D has it I'll see, I wasn't aware of their price matching but sometimes Canadian tire Leduc has stuff in stock when P&D doesn't, so I get it at Canadian tire because of the larger selection, and it's easier to drive to and park at

Yeah i supposed their location is less then ideal i dont even pay the parking if you park down the street theres usually free parking spots. As far as other guns besides hunting rifles their entire back counter is fully stocked. I was just in there yday april 11th and they had damn near ever lever gun under the sun alongside plenty of precision guns and every color of 1301 available in stock among many other tactical shotgun options. Not to mention their o/u selection is also increasing. With that being said the southside bass bro manager told me they just got approved for an additional 300 firearm sku's so their inventory will be going from 600 firearms to 900. I still only shop there when absolutely necessary but will be interesting to see the expansion

We are slowly but steadily becoming an anchor in the community. We have access to basically all the brands at this point with a handful of exceptions, and same goes for the archery and fishing side. The online shop is starting to get legs under it too. If you got FB give us a follow GnL Outfitters, we post about new arrivals and sales there.

I bought my first rifle at Canadian Tire in Ontario. That was the day after getting my PAL at the police station upon successfully passing my 10 question true or false quiz.

1863, went with the Kentucky rifle over the brown Bess. Prefer battle tested muskets over fancy barrels with grooves in them

1988 or 89. I don't recall when they switched from a short quiz to a full on safety course, but back then it was literally a 5 minute true or false test. And I did have to go to the police station to take it. This was for a regular long gun PAL, of course.

Yup same day. The cop i was dealing with typed it out right there using a blank PAL certificate. I'm going to see if I can dig it up.

The Leduc Canadian Tire is a wild ride. They have random massive yard statues/decor, huge sports section and they're great gun aisles. In the heyday of the Soviet surplus, I bought Russian capture mausers, legit Mohsin sniper rifles, and crates of ammunition. Some paid partially with Canadian Tire money. 2013, what a time to have a PAL.

I stopped at a gun store in Ukraine and the guy was shaking his head when I asked about surplus guns and accessories.
"We sold them all to you! (Canada)"
I wish I had got my PAL when I turned 18 and caught the Soviet surplus days.

They arent allowed, its up to the current store owner to have or not have a gun section. Hence why they disappear from time to time as the owners move from store to store

You are correct.
My local store has new owners and are dropping all non "corporate" Ammo and firearms. Basically 50% everything.

Yup as a store owner i rub shoulders with them at dealer shows all the time. The way canadian tire store ownership works is fascinating to me lol

Can confirm, it’s an absolute beacon of light against the darkness. The staff throughout the store are wonderful no matter what department, and the adjacent hunting/fishing/seasonal departments are absolutely stocked to the rafters with high quality products.
I take my kids there every chance we get. If I could meet the owner I would struggle not to kiss them. This place is Canadian Tire Mecca and the fancy store in Edmonton South Common can suck it by comparison.

Yep it’s insane. Nosler bt 30-30 is $80 at Canadian tire but same box of ammo is $46 at Calgary shooting centre so I just order my ammo from there.

a polite F.U. from east GTA. I wish I could go to Canadian Tire and just look at a nice wall of that selection. I have to drive 40 km to a local outdoor store that basically focuses on fishing and hunting.

Lethbridge's south location is on par with this, and I would argue has the best selection south of CSC (in Alberta anyway.)

This is the item that CT should be full of at dirt cheap prices. CT has buying power unlike small LGSes, and access to Norinco which Cabela's does not in the US and has far less stores in Canada.

They used to have a 50 BMG rifle on display. I used to work there and got to know the sports section manager. He let me have first pick of the Mosin Snipers crate the got

Our local crappy tire dosent sell guns which is very surprising.... 2 other ones in thea area sell guns and cross bows. We are in hardcore mennonite country, and also 1/2 in deer rifle hunting country so I think guns would sell well. Every farm lad either mennonite or english usually has 3 guns, a .22, a 12 gauge of some sort, and a deer rifle that can also be used on coyotes.... so .308, 30-06, .270, .243 arw very common. Also have the black powder week for deer season so those are also common. Not sure the store owners quite understand their market.

Sounds like you're in the Waterloo region?
If so there's a CT with a pretty decent firearms and ammo section not far from you.

If you shop Leduc CT, please snap and share photos of the desirable guns and their price labels!
Because CT doesn't publish their firearms inventory online, we consumers either need to phone them directly with specific inventory questions, or we socially share pictures on these forums

While the double sided aisle firearms display is a truly beautiful site, I feel the Leduc Canadian Tire really shines in its ammo selection. They stock nearly everything you could think of. I've bought 500S&W magnum, 50 AE, 10mm, 7.62x54R, as well as all the more commonly available calibers there before. Often at good prices. I got lucky buying 300gr hornady 50 AE there at $50 per box when every other edmonton area store had already jumped their prices up to $80

Wye Road Store in Sherwood Park has a nice full isle of guns too. Just bought a nice 12ga there. Cheaper than other local places too

The one near me doesn’t even sell guns or ammo. They have a huge outdoors men sign outside the shop. I feel like they need to take that down

Oh wow, in lower mainland BC, we have maybe 3 CDN Tire stores that sells firearms. And most of them dedicate like relatively small section for it.
This one is huge, lol

Langley has a decent size selection. Granview in Vancouver has a pretty good selection and will order pretty much anything you legally get at this point.

My Local Canadian tire is selling off all Ammo and firearms that aren't part of what "corporate wants"
Used to have a true gunsmith that brought in normally not available at CT rifles and Ammo. But he retired, and new owners bought the store, they don't know or want anything to do with the gunsmith part and is selling everything 50% off

Damn.....that's what I'm talking about. Here in Southern Ontario one of my local Canadian Tires has a decent gun/ammo/optics selection but nothing like this. Also those hours too...awesome....very few I've seen here that open that early and close that late.

There are two Canadian tires in my city and one doesn't have a single firearm... The other one has maybe ~60 assorted firearms locked behind a desk. Hard to even read the tags from that far away.

My local one sucks, new owners came in and upgraded the display (it looks very good) but never get anything new in, it's literally the same 15 firearms/pelletguns that have been there for 5-8 years now

The 2nd best thing is Joe's Hot dogs! I love the taste or fresh brakes bread that he goes gets and the meat supplier is on point too! Between 6-8 bucks a dog it's not bad.
The fire arms section is pretty good between Leduc and South Common.
