I understand the current state of law and regulations are not favourable to businesses in the firearms industry at the current time . Certain manufacturers have basically wrote off Canada. Now while I understand this from a business standpoint I don’t understand why certain retailers don’t recognize this and make more of an effort to combat this. So many things are perpetually out of stock or on special order. 85% of online stores and brick and mortar for that matter are constantly out of stock with no ETA on when that will change. I feel like we are living in a logistic 3rd world country in this industry. For example trying to find a ruger 10/22 with anything other than the absolute basic model or the black synthetic is nearly impossible without special order. This is an indication that they will sell out very quickly. So why never stock anything or give any real etas. I’ve talked to a few distributors and they do have the ability to make these orders still but are apprehensive . I know we’re limited on what we can own but stocking popular models isn’t even the norm anymore. Do you guys know anywhere across Canada that I can order things without a 6 week lead time ? This is getting ridiculous and the sport is dying from 2 ends. 1 being the government and 2 is the lack of supply from retailers. This is harming whatever we have left. This is my rant for now, I get it’s tough out there for everyone but these retailers are severely lacking on keeping things in stock. I just want a 10-22 carbon magpul, not asking for much.

I get your point but there is rarely even 1-2 . The demand is there . Insurance exits and exports are an option. They are part of the problem

Insurance does nothing if you have unsalable inventory due to regulations or slow sales. Alot of the guns the government banned, AR-15s for example can't be exported to the USA due to their regulations on import.

As well retailers dont order direct from the gun manufacturers, in most cases they order through a distributor. The distributor, to make it viable has to order a bunch of product at a time for shipping/ import costs to be justified, but they also dont want to sit on product that won't sell or gets banned.

Also in more recent cases, they dont want to order a ton of product subject to a tarrif that means the product will cost more, especially when the tariff can be removed at anytime allowing other distributors to obtain the same product at 25% less if they held off ordering.

Depending on the product and manufacturer, there have been many cases in the recent past where they can't keep up with demand in the USA let alone supply Canada which also means less product available up here.
