I think one thing you’re forgetting is that nearly 50% of PAL holders in BC also have RPALs, the highest percentage in the country for that matter with Alberta a close second, as opposed to a very small percentage of total PAL holders in Quebec having RPALs. So it would be reasonable to assume that BC has a much higher percentage of gun owners who have federally registered prohibs compared to somewhere like Quebec, therefore it’s not a fair comparison to say BC is bad because more people signed up for the compensation. At the end of the day it’s the people with registered prohibs who have the most to lose here cause whether they like it or not the government knows what they have, so feigning ignorance or ignoring the program will only take you so far before either your pal won’t be renewed or worse. It’s just a different calculation all together.
