Considering that the Feds have specifically and repeatedly called out Saskatchewan and Alberta residents being unable to collect compensation because of actions of their provincial governments, their numbers should be 0.
Why do people keep saying this stupid shit? This program is NOT for businesses. There are zero guns from commercial entities being counted in these numbers.
Because the government said they had over 22K weapons declared in the first week of the program. By Feb. 7th they had posted that there had only been an additional 749 firearms declared, leading some people to assume that the initial 22k was a number being propped up by another source.
IMO I think the initial 22K in a week (we barely tripled that in a bit over two months btw) WAS propped up with newly prohib firearms that had already been surrendered to the police over the last 6 years from people that didn't know what to do with them (e.g. estates), thought they were already illegal, or who just didn't want them anymore (e.g. disposable rifles like the GSGs).
TLDR is that the initial 22K made our community think that the number was artificially high and attributed it to businesses being part of it
