Australia seized over 600k when they did this. Looks like Canadians trust their government far less

If they hadn't burned significant amounts of goodwill leading up to the program launch with repeated statements of "just buy the ones that aren't prohibited", only to turn around and prohibit those.

If they had actually paid market value.

If they actually promised to pay out at all.

The LPC needed buy-in from everyone, and instead we have Minister Anandasangaree talking out of both sides of his mouth, and no actual justification for this except "we clearly aren't able to enforce the laws that we already have, so let's do something and hope it plays well politically".

"we arent coming for your hunting rifles or historical artifacts" -bans half of WW2 rifles. There's probably 600,000 SVT-40s in Canada. They were the SKS of the previous generation.

When I was 19 for $200 you could get an SVT-40 and 440 rounds of soviet ammunition, these sort of deals were on for years. Minimum wage was about $8 an hour at the time so $200 was a lot more money.

I didn't get into firearms until in my late 30s, by then, they were like 1200 to 1400 ea, lol.

The funny thing is that they left a chunk of firearms untouched from 2020 to 2024, and then proceed to ban if not most of them.

Ugh, what? So everyone been law abiding for 4 yrs with smaller pool of selection and you just turn around and OIC them again.

Yeah, Liberals dig their own holes alright for this program.
